Hahaha. For you beta guys, speaking of cyclers and gauss rifles, which one is the better workhorse in your opinions. I've heard conflicting stories. Thanks for any input you can give.

Can't really say anymore because I haven't been able to play long enough to get a Gauss, or really use a Cycler. Previously the Gauss was an all around better weapon, beating the Cycler in virtually all aspects except clip size. Now though, I'm not sure which is better, as I haven't been able to compare.

I'm not in beta, but I have heard many things about both rifles from about 10-12 different beta testers. If you don't care, feel free to ignore this post.
Gauss = Long range, very accurate, slow rate of fire, only a little more damaging then cycler, it can only fire 1-3 bullet bursts, otherwise the cone of fire expands like hell, terrible at short range. Cycler = Short range, inaccurate at ranges, much faster then gauss, almost as much damage as gauss, not sure if it works better with bursts or full auto at close range, can fire medium sized bursts according to the new mega patch, terrible at medium to long range. Cycler will own gaussers at close range, gaussers will own cycler users at about any other range, maybe equal at medium range. edit: From vash: Gauss kills in about 10 direct hits to reinforced armor. Oh and: Cycler clip= 50 rounds Gauss clip= 30 rounds |

What about the Pulsar then? They jacked it up somewhat in the mega patch. How does it compare to the Gauss and the Cycler now?
BTW: Grats to Warborn on the "l33t Whore" title. I'm so sure that this annoys You to no end... and I can't help but giggling every time I see it. It's not everyone that gets to be elite prostitutes and I feel quite fortunate that I can share this thread with You. "We're not laughing at You. We are laughing near You." -- Robin Williams PS: oh - and oh yeah! The MR is butt ugly in the hands of NC (as everything else). |

The Cycler has definitly been improved in the latest patch. I was owning NC today w/it. I bet I had five kills in a row at Drakulu. It was great. Haven't yet stolen a Gauss to get a good feel for it yet, but the pre-patch Gauss was amazing. Too amazing really. However, I'm not sure if they nerfed it too much or just right.

I really don't know that much about it, and i recommend you ignoring this post, but here goes.
Pulsar = Not as accurate or as damaging as gauss, not as fast firing as cycler, can fire very long bursts before the cone of fire kicks in (pretty much full auto i'm guessing), not as much recoil as other assault rifles. |

(I know I'm not supposed to answer to this thread as I'm not in beta... but people telling me what to do and what not to do doesn't ride all that well with me. Especially when I'm off work and slightly intoxicated... or at work and slightly entoxicated.)
My previous post turned out to be mostly directed at Warborn. I think I wanted to see if he'd had a "humor bypass operation", or not. Must say that I'm mighty glad to see that he didn't. Warborn: Your posts on these boards are both full of insight and information. And they have just the right level of, "up-nosed"/"stirn lip" attitude to keep scoring high in my book. /bow |
