Last night, afte rthe new server came up at 0130EST I got on, and led a team of other fellow n00bs on the new server, full squad. And we took 2 bases, and life was good for the most part, till a few members of the squad started wanting to do thier own thing. That I think is the biggest issue facing, especially NEW players, PS requires team work, and sometimes its boring.
The insight I gathered from that 2 hour jaunt was very helpful. Some of the squad knew that that BASE capping was the BEST way to go, whilst a few of the squad just wanted to fight, and fight anywhere that there were enemies. While both tactics have thier pluses, taking a base, especially in an area your Side doesn't have a good foot hold in is FAR more important then jsut killing baddies. Its going to be a rude shock for new people in the game, both as more OPEN CD's get on, and when the game goes live. If you don't understand that while guarding a base for 15 min is more important then jsut "fighting" you are going to have a hard time in some squads. I am all for having fun, but I am also a team player, and I wanted to do what was BEST for the empire, and that in turn is fun. Knowing that I aided my Side. the sooner that attitude is prevalant in game, the sooner I think, we will see more organized fronts, and lines of control.

Agreed. I was fighting on Oshur - there was little to no TR troops on the continent (2 hops from Sanctuary or so) and we didn't stick together well. We ended up holding on to one biolab and occasionally capturing a tech plant. TR probably would have done better if there was more squadding. Or if people would leave the Sanctuary.

I'm a whats best for my empire too and I think more people will be thinking more like that when they have bonuses for holding more land. Also when your starting at BR1 all you want to do is go get some xp so you can move up. Once everyone start maxing out then it won't be so important anymore.

I'm also the type to do what's best for the empire. If i wanted just pure action all the time, lone wolf style, i'd play ut2003. I hope that these self centered lone wolf types find the game boring and quit so that us team oriented people can have fun without being bothered by them.

have you seen our AV max? its complete shit you have to run up and get on a tanks ass (and get run over 99% of the time) or run up to another max thats pounding you on from far because we lob grenades like 5 ft in front of us; so our AV max isnt a very viable option. Also there's guys on my side that you cant see also are AA max's.
We were also teaming up with another squad who was covering the other stuff while we had hacker and max's hence why you always see ppl not in our squad around us in the ss's |
