3rd Person Crosshair?

Do you think there should be a 3rd person crosshair implemented?

It would be great, yet cheap to some extent.

It's because you can see around corners in third person. The idea is, it's not cheap because you can't prepare your crosshair.

That was the biggest problem with wallhacks in CS.. Most people weren't stupid enough to shoot through the walls (it didn't hurt much, plus instantly showed that you were a cheater) but many cheaters would just follow people with their crosshairs through the walls, then when they were visible, already have a good shot on them.

Similiar concept I think is the root of the argument against third person crosshairs.

Think of games you've played which had third person crosshairs. Right now, Oni comes into mind.. and the Rainbow Six series. It was a very common (and useful) tactic in Rainbow Six to watch enemies from around the walls with third person.

Heck, I'll even admit to using third person in PlanetSide to watch enemies approaching me when I'm behind those little walls they added at base gates and around towers. If I had a crosshair, I think that'd be a little unfair. (the person couldn't use the same tactic on me.. in that situation)

BUt you must remember, it's not unfiar, because EVERYONE has it, so it's not like its a special ability or something. Or maybe it could be turned into an implant of some kind. WOuld be interesting.

Yes everybody could use it but it would still make more surprise attacks and less 1 on 1 pure fragfest which is what this ACTION game tries to do.

I don't understand your point.. Where are the 1 on 1 fights? So far, PlanetSide has promised and delivered the most epic, long-lasting, large-scale battles I've ever experienced in gaming. A while back there was 1 on 1.. but Lattice system changed that.. I'd rather have more strategy on the WHOLE.. the big picture.. than more surprise attacks. I'd rather a fight be decided by the commander's ability to give orders, not the soldier's ability to aim before they can actually see someone.

1024, yes, everyone would have it, but it's still unfair in the situation I mentioned (that's why I said, in this situation). Why? Because I'm right next to the wall. In third person, I can see the enemies, but if they went to third person, they'd still just see the wall.. Because they're too far away. Make sense now?

Hamma, again, makes a good point. IN less than 10 words.

Bad idea on my part.

all listen to bladerunner, he is godlike and sees the point, 3rd person is a cheat, since i can see enemies behind the corner but they cannot see me.

Best solution : ban 3rd person, useless dumb ass option

just learn to pilot a gal without it, it's easy enough.
