I'm BR14 now on Markov and I've seen a few TR pounders be the deciding factor as to whether or not a base is takeable regardless of the number of players. I've seen this on plenty of occasions.

I saw 6 TR pounder maxes shut down no less than 100 Vanu for an hour and a half by putting three at each chokepoint, stopping rushes of 25 players at a time easily.

Not only could they not be defeated, you couldn't even get to LOS to get a shot off before you died, max or not. Trust me I tried, and I know how to play.

This is simply overpowered. Don't tell me stopping any and all base attacks by huge swarms of enemies is the pounder max's "special ability".

If you put 6 TR pounders anchored in every base, Auraxis would be on permanent TR lockdown.

If you think that is in the spirit of game balance, then you're retarded.

I never whined on the dev boards. I never posted a complaint. I would just move to another base and wait for them to leave, hack another base, get set up my Lancer and pray this time they aren't smart enough to just stay in run mode til they can set up shop in my spawn point or the stairwell.

Two words. Not balanced.

Oh sure, Pounders are excellent defending inside bases. But hardly unstoppable. I've been on the receiving end of too many decimators to feel too confident locked down defending in a base, even with other Pounders. An engie will sure help you, but I've been rushed even with an engineer supporting us.

Really have to disagree with that. Spent a lot of time in the VS AV Max during beta and it was a highly enjoyable killing machine .. especially against other maxes. Don't know if its been changed or anything since then though...

Yes it has changed since beta. The jump jets have been cut nearly 50%, they are good for one 4-5 sec sustained burn now or two smaller hops.

Edit: Jump jets are still largely useless indoors, and the clip size for the vs max is intolerable.

Well I still see those Vanu punks hopping over walls and onto the tops of towers, so they couldn't have nerfed the jets TOO bad.

Wrong! look it up again again... Dual Cycler = AV, Pounder = AI...

The thing is that the Dual Cycler is both actually, but it will be nerfed a bit in next patch (no it wont be useless, it will just not do as much damage to infantry as it used to. It used to be about as effective as the VS AI max, against infantry, and with a much larger clip that is. And of course it would still own that VS AV max in a split second.)

It USED to be that way, pounder was av and dc was ai. They reversed it somewhere near the end of beta
