Implants. Which are most popular

I just got the game lastnight, I'm quickly approaching my first implant rank.

As a Terran what is the most popular implant and why.

Thanks.

I think most people (regardless of realm) go darlight for finding those pesky cloakers. Others are useful depending on your specialty.

I usually suggest to new people to get darklight. After you have played for a while you will learn to detect stealthers without it, but until then darklight can be a life saver.

For heavy assault i like second wind. It has kept me alive a number of times during large firefights befoe i could find a medic.

i posted this a while ago in a diff thread....

heres my take on the implants:
darklight: must have
surge: great if you in reinf armor
range magnifier: must have for sniper
adv targeting:great implant for AV troops and tankers+reaver pilots
second wind: never tried this
silent run: see above ^ ^
audio amp: alternative for darklight, quite useful when you're guarding a CC
adv. regen: very useful for an infiltrator, also i'd take it is a 3rd implant if you're an engineer.
personal shield: only tried this once, and i didnt really like it much. surge+personal shield would be a good escape "strategy" for infiltrators though... ;o

Darklight is by far the most popular.

Being a pilot I usually go with range magnifier

I've always been a fan of surge. It's extremely useful when you're in a reinforced exo-suit or something and need that speed to get around.

Range magnifier is worthless as a sniper. Very little difference between 12x and 8x magnification.

Agreed. There are plenty of cases where you can line up targets that are out of range (400m+), just using 8x zoom.

Personally, I like Darklight, Surge, and Audio Implant. Advanced targeting is very nice to have, but IMHO, not worth taking up a slot with, unless you serve as a gunner often.

Hello,

I got surge first because it allows for quick flanking and escapes. It also helps a great deal with being an engineer because I can deploy ACEs much faster or get to a vehicle to repair it much faster as well.

Then I went to Dark Vision. It is still nice to have it even though I do see moving stealthers pretty easily now. I use DV for the stealthers that are sitting still.

The last one I plan to get is probably the audio implant. It will make detecting enemy much easier and seems to be the best tactical implant to take out of the rest.

8-)

Disagreed. It is hard as can be to snipe at 12x, but well worth the practice. You have the ability to put yourself out of viewing distance of anybody except others with the implant. There is a large difference between 8x and 12x, but the bolt driver loses very little accuracy over that distance. Range magnification can mean the difference between that perfect hiding spot and standing exposed on the top of a hill waiting for a reaver to invite you to the spawn tubes. If you're a casual sniper it might not be worth it, but if that's your main lot in life it's absolutely necessary.

I recently got battle rank 12 so I have Darklight and Surge

Darklight is great for guarding the CC and surge is great for getting past large numbers of ppl and loosing them in the tunnels of the base =)

Next I plan to get Audio Amp what better way to kill ppl than to know if they are going to come around the corner. Now you can be ready =P

Be careful with the audio implant. I personally was enjoying the heck out of it before I realized a few things. I don't think it ever placed a MagMower on my radar, I was roadkill without even knowing they were around. It gives you a false sense of security at times and then splat.
It is also maddening without darklight inside a base. Unless I'm mistaken, you can 'hear' an enemy even on a different level of the base than you (you might be in the courtyard and see a red dot which might be in the basement). Because of the multiple levels of the bases you can spend a lot of time running towards the spot you last saw a dot at, even though they're most likely long gone by that point.
It proved most useful when defending bases as you could see enemies running along the outside of the wall. It can be quite fun waiting for somebody to pass a 'commitment' point only to have you jump out with your gun aimed right at them.
I've only got the one implant slot at the moment, but I actually probably will get the audio to go with my range magnification at the next slot to help make me a bit less vulnerable when I'm taking up a sniping position.
