how do you save a bmp as a gif or jpeg

you can save it in paint, but it horribly, horribly compresses it and makes it awful.

you need a program like Paint Shop Pro to convert it into another file extension. when you're saving it, there should be a little pulldown menu with, ".bmp" or something in it. click on that to access a big list of different formats.
