Since I bought Planetside I don't really care about any other big game coming out like Call of Duty and Half-Life 2. Well besides Core Combat that is. It's like thoes will be good games but FPS where you have to play on a small server and the map rotates every 30 minutes or so just doesn't sound so thrilling after you've played an MMO where people are always on and it's not just 15 people on a team its a whole lot. It's also cool that there are 3 teams and no just to like you see in games that are not MMO. Does anyone else feel the same?

Planetside definately has something that no other FPS has.
However it is missing something that that the other FPS's do have. Planetside never gave me that adrenaline rush that so many other FPSs did deliver. I am not trying to say that PS doesn't have it's place, however I am saying that the more conventional FPS do.

Yes. Right now the only game on the horizon that I'm waiting for is Tribes: Vengeance because I am a fan boy. I'll admit it. I loved both T1 and T2 (before the mega patch). Equally thrilling games that kept my interest.
I'm not a big RPG player, so WoW probably won't hold any interest to me, unless my clan decides to ditch Planetside support and go into WoW, which I doubt will happen. Planetside, while at times can feel repetative, is thrilling none the less. I like the idea of working together as a team with people you can rely upon. Generating different tactics and battleplans on the spur of the moment is a great rush as well. I'm not a great FPSer, but I hold my own in Planetside. The bugs in the game are perisistent, and I yell at my computer monitor everytime I can't open a door/load a continent without crashing/jump in sanctuary only to fall down the hole of doom/attempt to purchase something at an equipment terminal only to wait 20 seconds for the server to catch up. But the game has only been out since May. Beta was meant to catch all the larger game bugs. Trust me, if they put out Planetside before the beta, no one would play it. Getting stuck in walls all the time lends to less interest in gameplay.

Planetside is a little boring to me nowdays. Hopefully the expansion(s) will spice it up. Being the well-rounded gamer I am, I'm looking forward to Legacy of Kain: Defiance, Metal Gear Solid 3, Call of Duty, and several other games. One thing that's probably for sure though, when Matrix: Online is released next July, my subscription to Planetside will most likely be cancelled.

I'm an MMORPGer at heart, that's my favorite kind of game. WoW looks awesome, and because it comes from Bliz, that almost guarantees that it will BE awesome. I'm signing up for the beta as soon as humanly possible.

WoW = World of Warcraft.
I don't know, I kinda like smaller multiplayer experiences. If you can find a dedicated server, you often go up against the same foe many times. Not to mention no lag. Plus games like Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory you can play up to 40 ppl on a team, and it's very team task oriented. Personally I can't wait for HL-2, JK3, GTA4 (I hear there's going to be multiplayer) and possibley Halo for PC. |

^^^That's exactly it^^^ Planetside is unique indeed, but it's missing that special something that for one keeps my own interest, and 2 makes a good FPS. What it is? I honestly can't put my finger on it. I guess in normal FPS games you make a much bigger impact through your actions. In PS you're just another face in the crowd. I personally am looking forward to savage, tribes vengence, HL2, and homeworld 2. I stopped playing PS about 2 months ago. So I've been playing SWG and savage beta to tie me over till these new games come out. Give it some time though, I'm sure once HL2 etc are closer to release you'll gain interest, especially if you liked the first half life. I installed that the other day just to mess around and was laughing at the fact that those graphics were jaw dropping back when it was first released... My how technology owns.

I myself learned about Planetside recently by continuely taking the long way to log into Everquest Legends. I would see PLANETSIDE sticking out all the time and decided to try it out.
For the most part I like MMORPGs, FPSs, RPGs, and Real and Turn based Strategy games...everything but racing and sports mostly. I don't think I will be cancellng my EQ subscript to soon, or PS for that matter. I am curious to see how WOW and SWG are like. I agree with the point that PS has a place, but it doesn't have the same adrenaline rush as other FPS games. When I play a game like Counter-Strike, I get excited quickly because of the fast action and skill-based play, it just doesn't seem to get old. I was thinking that PS would be almost identical, and it comes close in certain areas, but its not the same. The only time I ever get truely excited is when I get a new cert, aside from the first time I dropped into battle. Although it may not be as exciting all the time, PS DOES have some strong points and a more advanced game system. I don't think I will always be playing PS, but I don't think I will 'just drop it'.
