Thumper has its uses, in tower fights and hallways. I find the Rocket Rifle more usefull as I am usually not requiring the no LOS of nades. If all you got special assualt (my personal favourite cert in the whole game) for is the Thumper, drop it and get something else. The Thumper is only marginally better than a Punisher (bout double RoF I think).

I wish that PoS was not in the game...
and that's why NNY. Too many like yourself who just spam with it and do more damage to our own troops than the enemy. A Thumper won't stop enemy troops from getting upstairs. You take control of a tower by getting troops downstairs and suppressing their ability to spawn. Then you can wear down what's upstairs. But usually all of our troops that try to storm the lower level are half killed by spamming Thumpers who can't hold their wad when freindlies try to get in, only to be finished by enemy guns. Then the Thumper users come on here and complain about grief.

I've had a lot of success with a Thumper/Decimator loadout. Especially on defense. With the new base radar and the ability to keep track of enemies approaching the bases walls, I can easily keep a small squad out of the base all by myself. If they do get inside, Surge and a Sweeper will take care of that. |

The thumper why is often portrayed as a GR!3F M@(}{!NE by the less pacient is one of the most under rated weapons in all of planteside. Barring suicide AV/Deci runs on TR MAXes, a clip of time frag nades lets them go down faster without decreasing the attacking force. The thumper is a very skill based weapon and you must follow serveral basic rules while weilding it.
1. ALWAYS BE IN THE FRONT OF THE WAVE IF YOU WANT TO USE IT! I cannot stress this enough. 50 no 90% of all my greif from using it has come from when I am not in the front of the atacking force. 2. Carry all three amo types. Yes I know people think plasma nades are teh uber nades. I disagree. Frag nades take down the all so destructive MAXes down quicker and jammers help clear heavly mined CYs. Frag nades also have less greif potential then plasma nades, a big plus to a new thumper user. 3. Make a voice macro that goes something like "Grenades coming though! Out of the way!" and assign it to an easily accesable hotkey. Press it often for it will clear people out of your way. 4. High places are your friends. Self-explanetory. The most Greif I have gotten from using the weapons for an entire session is 250 for about 8 hours. So though careful use you can use it effectivly without getting weapons-locked. |
