I know i am a bit late( aprox 3 months is it?) but i do have a CD of Planetside and was wondering if it's worth it to start an account. I love both MMORPG's and FPS so the gameplay wont be a problem. I have heard however the way of constantly doing just about the same thing has people bored, is this true? I can understand the first few ranks in battle might be a bit boring as your selection of weaps and abilities are severly limited, but as to the higher ranks, are they really that much better? I haven't really tried this game but i have heard alot of it(good and bad) and was just wondering what keeps each person hooked to this game.

I'm hooked because I enjoy the fights and atmosphere of the game. If you play the game simply for the points and to gain rank it will be fun for about a month. If you play to have fun and test your skills against others it will always be fun. I have characters for each empire on different servers that helps keep the game fresh for me.
You'll see a lot of bitching when reading the forums, but then I've never been in a game forum where they didn't. You're first 30 days are free, so download that sucker and try it out. That's really the only way to find out if it's for you or not. |

What keeps me hooked er well did keep me hooked was having a great outfit to be a part of. I was (am) part of 7th legion on TR emerald. At one point we had around 200 members and had ops everynight with up to 4 squads. To cut it short so its not a history lesson leader left temporary leader sucked, I had to sorta take charge people started leaving now we're down to around 25 members. But yeah if you join PS try to get into a very organized outfit, because for many playing organized is the way to go. (with voice comm and all)
Presently wut keeps me hooked is the variety of gameplay styles to choose from. I started as a grunt/reaver pilot now i've shifted into infiltrator and more stuff like that. There are numerous certs to pick and adjust so you most likely wont be bored for a while. Those are/were the main reasons i am hooked on this game. I love it a lot and its like nothing i've ever played. If you enjoy FPS at all get this game. If you like MMO at all get this game. If you like both well you better get this game cuz it doesnt get much better than this. hope that helps. |

Ok, Ty for the replies, i love FPS and the repetitiveness doesn't bore me if it did i wouldn't be a skilled Q3 1v1 Unlag player, and all that is, is one weap(1 host 1 kill railgun). I'm sure i will try it for the free trial and see how it goes from there : )
(P.S. on Q3 1.30 i'm ^SwyfT^ if anyone from there looks at these posts : ) ) |

Ok so obviously you're a big Q3 fan... The only thing I have to warn you about is that there isn't always action every time you want it. You will have to be patient some times and learn to search out the good fights. As long as you don't mind a little downtime (ie: travel time) you'll have a blast.
