The Art of Module Placement

I just placed my first module on Konried - a shield module. I made haste to beat the deadline while keeping it in the back of my mind that I should stick near bases so if an enemy force decided to mug me I could install it quick and then worry about the enemy. As it turns out, I decided to put it in a tech plant with no direct link to a warpgate. I was thinking of putting it in a base with a friendly sanc warpgate, but it wasn't to be.
I asked on /command where to put it, hoping my request would be relayed to cr4s and cr5s, but I got no reply. I did it mainly to cover my ass, I didn't want to get blamed for the thing getting stolen or not being in a good tactical location.
Also, I'm not sure yet if you can move a module once it's been installed.
