Yes p3's and p4s are not interchangable. You relay don't even need to bother finding out what mobo you have. Your basicaly at the point were you need to replace everything to have an up-to-date computer.

Yeah you need a new mobo, and while you're at it, I'd just get new everything. Do you play PS with the comp you listed? If so that would be amazing.

Thats not that bad. He has almost a gig. If he gets a board with 4 dimm/dramm slots he can just by a 50 dollar stick to get a full gig. And he can a get a board like that with 800mhz bus for the same price or a little more if he cant afford to do a whole new computer.

Thats 160 for the 2.4, 50-80 for the board, and 30-50 for the ram. Thats about all hed do with a new comp besides get more expensive ram.

Edit: ok you can get 3200 256 chips from anyone for 40 buck retail or oem. Do you know what your current ram speed is? you need to make sure it is a speed that an 800mhz board will support if you get a new board.

your mobo prolly wont support a 1.4..

Spend now and save later.. and i highly doubt your pushing Planetside to the extent that most of us are.. your cpu spec dosent even meet the min.

he is using a p3 500. so his ram speeds are prolly 100 fsb.. No way near DDR/Pc800 he needs. He needs to just upgrade/retire his entire rig.

You really should just get a new motherboard, processor, and ram. There's no way your current motherboard would support a 1.4ghz cpu. That would be nearly tripple your current processor speed. If you want a better processor, you're going to need a new motherboard, and if you get a new motherboard, you're going to need new ram. There's no getting around it. Getting a 1.4ghz processor would be pointless. It would only be a year or so before you'd need a new processor again. You should get a new motherboard, and at least a 2.4ghz processor, and at least 512mb of DDR ram (768 or higher would be better).

Yeha best to wait and upgrade when you can get some good stuff, you mobo wouldn't take a P3 1.4 anyway, yours is probably a slot, you need the socket 370s for those.

Ait yet again your are TOTALY WRONG, as everyone can tell you know nothig about a p3 other than its made by intel.

NEW FORUM RULE: no posting unless you KNOW what it is they are talking about, not what you think (unless its based on fact), what you know.
