Heavy Machine Guns

I have already talked some about this subject in someone else's thread, but I wanted to get my whole idea out to everyone.

Heavy Machine Guns

-Would require it's own certification
-Common pool weapon(keep whinning down)
-Would take up 2 rifle slot, 1 for tripod/1 for gun
-2 people could share load, 1 carrying tripod and another carrying gun
-Cert required for tripod and actual gun
-Tripod would have to be deployed, then gun would be deployed by standing in yellow indicator(same as vehicles)and pressing g when gun is unholstered
-Gun must be deployed to fire(don't need people in agile armor running around with one)

Thats all of it.

That'd be pretty cool. I would also like to see sand bags and such being able to be deployed.

This is a great idea. This would prmote the tactical team-based strategy that this game is all about. It would be about relying on a teamate to help you assemble and fire. On that note it should have decent accuracy when one man is gunning it. But if you get a squad member or another person that could feed the ammo to it, then there would be no CoF bloom or something like that. Superb Idea

How about putting a "trunk" on the side of the weapon for a crew member to reload the gun?

Excellent idea, Bashir. Obviously, we'd have to work up some specific statistics for it (damage, etc...) as well as whether the gun would take damage or the people manning it, but the basic idea is quite sound.

Well, it's been suggested in similar guises before on the official forums many times, I wouldn't be suprised if there are some documents on the idea lab about it. Not saying that you haven't come up with the idea independantly, just that you're not alone

But some good ideas here that I haven't seen, like the trunk by Vis

i like the idea. Would be a good thing for people like me who are always on foot. Only thing is people could set them up next to the doors of towers and just blow everyone away coming out but still I like the idea. I think someone needs to forward this to the PS devs. May be a good thing for 2.9 or even 2.8

Two words. Sniper bait.

It would be bad ass if it had its own little force field generator that would keep the snipers off or something.

Well the MG34 and MG42 in DoD actually kill people in 1 or 2 shots. I can't see a machine gun in PS doing that.

As are all machine gunners, but that would be a)part of the strategy about placement and b)part of the ways you could combat them.

I like the idea of a little shield. It should only be front facing though, not a total shield like vehicles have.
