COMCAST COMPLETES ACQUISITION OF TECHTV

PHILADELPHIA, PA (May 10, 2004) - Comcast Corporation (NASDAQ: CMCSA, CMCSK) today announced that it has completed the purchase of TechTV from Vulcan Programming, Inc. and, as planned, will merge it with G4, the Comcast-owned television network devoted to video games and the gamer lifestyle. EchoStar Communications Corporation (NASDAQ: DISH) will have an equity interest in the combined entity. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Beginning May 28, the two channels will merge into one network called G4techTV and will be available in approximately 44 million cable and satellite homes nationwide. The merged channel will be headquartered in Los Angeles.

"We are confident that G4techTV will offer value to the many affiliates; advertisers; content partners; and viewers of both G4 and TechTV," said Charles Hirschhorn, CEO of the merged network. "The combined programming lineup will let viewers continue to enjoy their favorite shows while, at the same time, introducing them to new programming. Additionally, we have begun to develop new, exciting original programming that will premiere later this year."

In laymans terms:

G4 & TechTV will be upgrading to form one network that will take digital entertainment to the next level.

G4techTV will be the one and only network that is plugged into every dimension of games, gear, gadgets & gigabytes.

We�ve got a great new game plan featuring the best elements from both channels. Most of your favorite shows will be crossing over when we join forces on �G-Day�: May 28th.

yea, I heard about this over a week ago. anyway, still good news all around, I wont have to subscribe to G4, and I get all their good shows. I kinda like that show Arena but none of them are really that good at any of the games they play.

Only problem with this merger is G4 has already given notice to all TechTV employees that they are being laid off, it's expected that some will be asked to come onboard with G4, but who is coming back has yet to be seen.

I've never had the chance to see what G4 is like, seeing as I don't have that channel. But from what I hear it sucks in comparison with TechTV.
