Ok so I let my bro use my computer to play DCX (A battlefield mod). He then later goes to a hack site and somehow downloaded some spyware. I loged on to check my bit torrent download of Doom3 and 5 or so windows pop up warning me about spyware. I might add that these are NOT legit windows. All of them are http windows and start asking me to download stuff. I read most of them and clicked no to everything. Sigh now when I run spybot it comes up with 5-8 different spywares every time. I have gone through the full scan 5+ times.
Am I looking at a reformat? Really not going to enjoy planetsides re-download... |

You use SP2 and use the builtin pop-up blocker for IE, or get the google toolbar or some sort of pop up blocker or mozilla or something. What Frag said. Just Spybot won't do, try AdAware and Hijack This too.

Get firefox: http://www.mozilla.org/ delete explorer problem solved
While your at it run Windows update then Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sec.../mbsahome.mspx Next try using: -ad-ware http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ -Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.3 http://www.safer-networking.org/en/mirrors/index.html -Spy Sweeper http://www.webroot.com/wb/downloads/index.php If you dont want firefox and want to keep explorer then open explorer and: Tools < internet options < Security tab < Custom Levels Then you click disable for anything ActiveX and Scripting |

I had something like this a while ago. It changed my homepage to some spyware bullshit every time I used IE. I tried everything, but to no avail. Thank god for system restore. If you have that enabled, try it first, before reformating. It's a much better option.
