Just an idea on how it all could start

Hypothetical

Planetside is released and we all sign up. lets say 2000 people on the server.

For the first three days everyone is flying and driving and just getting the lay of the land.
No one is shooting because the devs have got a global lock on all weapons. (bare with me)
On the fourth day we're all salivating over starting a battle.
A server wide message goes up to all come to the center continent.
The Devs give a little speach from a hill in front of 2000 players.

Then they just unlocks all weapons while we're all just standing around in a big mob.

Not that im gonna be an expert at the game when i get it, but i plan on taking a squad to the closest continent to an enemies sanctuary and seeing what i can stir up. Nothing like stepping into a fresh warp gate and seeing enemy barrells up your nose.

I wouldn't mind if the first day was like that, that way it allows everyone to go to VR training and complete it upon release, and then release the floodgates, but 3 days?

I can see that happening for open beta. Weapons lock on everyone untill the land is more or less explored. Then a massive "stress test" on cyssor and suddenly the message comes over server wide "Weapon unlocked".

Oh that would be so much fun, maybe they could give a free copy of the game, or like a month or two, to the person with the most kills or the last man standing.
