Weekly Dev Activities (aka. BFRs getting screwed)

http://www.planetside-universe.com/p....php?post=2613

Quite the change. I'm all for it, personally. I think this will finally be the patch that does the job. With the flights being considerably less durable and lacking the offensive power they currently do, all the people out there who use BFRs to killwhore and overall ruin the game will go back to flying a reaver or tower dropping from a skeeter.

If they can make cloackers a more viable class and get the merits out before 2005 people might stop quiting.

What would you change?

I know right now, with Sensor Shield, there isn't a base or tower I can't get into and not hack if the CC isn't heavily guarded.

A lone cloaker can devestate backfield support (Snipers and AV troopers).

With an AMP I can take out 4-5 guys regularly before dying (usually to my own side...)

They are a harder loadout to master, but once you get their abilities down, at least for me, its much more effective than Reinforced Armor and a Heavy Assault weapon.

You know, I admitted they needed to be nerfed, but lowering the flight varients armor more? It's so weak at the moment, most people don't realize that though. They are lowering damage absorbtion too? Well great, it might as well be a pinto with wings, cause it's armor will be so low that one jam and your dead. The thing that balanced it's weak armor was the fact that it could fly away, now what? Oops, flight pod damaged, NO FLYING FOR YOU. If I didn't have darklight, audio amp, adv targeting and engineering I'd be screwed. I forsee that they will be buffing the flight varients after they realize people are having a hard time surviving the 50 min timer. I'm angry, guess I'll just have to go back to my lightning for awhile.

wow, i wish this had been done a year ago... i'm also concerned that this will nullify some significant part of the stats collection they've done for merits

It can fly, you can't expect it to be very durable too. The flight variants should have never been meant for front line duty. If anything I suspect they'll be for LLU intercepts, base drains, and maybe just annoying hit-and-run stuff. But hopefully we've seen the last of the flight variants in the middle of the big fights.

Yeah, I have. They're the only type of BFR I really see. Now and then I'll see another Juggernaut, maybe a Colossus (without a doubt a new BFR pilot trying to get his badge), but swarms of Invaders. When I see a VS or NC BFR, guess what nine times out of ten it is? That's right, a goddamn flight variant. Mobility is king in this game, and with how easy it is for them to fly away from danger, or fly up on walls and mow down infantry, it's no wonder they're so damn common. And that's why I've been so keen on seeing them nerfed to hell by the devs. Which they have. And so all is well.

Agreed warborn, oh by the way, <3 (SQUEEKY TOO)
And I'm all for the cloaker class, cloakers are definetly
as fun as hell, but just anything that will make the game exciting again

As for the game being exciting, I got a bfr, it was stupid, and sucked,
so I untrained it the next day

This'll certainly be interesting....but also good to see juggernauts on the field more...

...SoE will have to change the BFR intro movie if they kill the basic BFRs.

Also, something else of note that I have to get out: Sabinus, your sig is ugly (I blame MSPaint), cluttered, and just plain scary. Well done. You have met the bar of your average forum whore's sig. Too busy whoring to make a good sig. :]

I dont like it, removing the basic bfr, why???? and the drematic change of the adv bfr merit procese, it took me ages to get it, and now all you need to do is 15 kills, you have made it wores, theres going to be loads of n00bs in adv bfr, if you didn't like it before, your not going to like it now!

1) Should be obvious why the standard BFR was removed. Now you have a choice between a paper thin flight BFR with wussy weapons, or a slow, lumbering, grounded BFR whose offensive potential relies on having a gunner. The standards were removed to make sure the flight variant users now don't have a more mobile one-man BFR to fall back on. It's either paper thin POS or the one that requires teamwork to be useful.

2) There already are loads of "n00bs" in advanced BFRs. Virtually every BFR out there is a flight variant or gunner variant. Couple standards here and there, but in general most BFR pilots have Adv. already. Even still, as the change said, the streak has been changed to 15. Doesn't mean you don't need the 100 kills, just that instead of a streak of 20 kills, you need 15 now.
