I just picked this game up a few weeks ago. It has to be the best MMO I have ever played with one exception being planetside when it was still a good game. EQ2 kicks the shit out of WoW in so many ways. I have played both. (WoW up to lvl 38 and EQ2 up to lvl 28 so far) EQ2 is just so much more polished and refined. The grouping works so well. There are multiple flavors of each basic class. There are 6 different types of priests, 6 kinds of tanks, 6 scouts and 6 types of casters (numbers might not be exact). Anyway... anyone play?

Well, Jaged, As a matter of fact, Im purchasing EQ2 some time in the next week . I played through Trial of the Isle, and I must say, I am extremley impressed with it, and have decided to give planetside a break (yea, I know, Ill be back in a few months). So, when I go to purchase EQ2, Jaged, What server should I play on? And an recomended classes? I have tried scout and paladin, and enjoyed scout a bit more, but paladin was pretty cool too. Oh, and with KoS, you get the base game too, right?

Jaged, I hate to say it, but I would punch you in the face if I met you for saying that. EQ2 is utter shit in my opinion. Me and my dad, both hardcore EQ1 junkies, despise it. I didn't mind WoW just because its endgame isn't dreadful. EQ2 is just so... bleh.
Don't get me wrong, at this time I hate WoW and EQ2. <3 |

Oh I'm done with EQ1. Been done with that since PoP. EQ2 is just a headache of a game and wasn't released right. It was released to get a jump on wow. It wasn't complete, and apparently its gotten better since the expansion but its still made for the casual gamer, I suppose the reason I hate it so much is because its NOT an everquest game. Everquest was guild competition, HUGE raids, 50hours of no sleep and waiting on mob pops, and lots and lots of typing.
I played EQ2 back on release. Hated it. With me entire being. Everything about it just frustrated me. I don't know much of whats changed, but my dad still gave me 20 reasons it still blows O.o I will have him type you up a list tommorrow when he stops by to finish building his comp. |

I heard it's fun but I like sci fi better so I'm sticking with planetside.

If you notice, most of the "EQ2 sux" stuff come from when the game was released....and you know what....there right. At release this game was horrible...I got WoW...and fell asleep two hours into it...it lacked challenge and I didn't want to play it (found myself playing Yahoo Texas Hold'em, seemed more fun). Would have probaly left EQ2, but they put in some actual solo content evantually (waiting for a group sometimes was insane) so it kept me for that much longer...and then another update...little longer...etc.
I would say now, they should re-title the game Everquest 3 because it is no where near what it was when launched, night and day. But to answer the rest of your questions: Yes, if you buy Kingdom of Sky you get the full version of the game. Also I play on Lucan D'Lere 53 Ranger and Jeweler, name is Xolodno. On the PvP server Vekenor, 15 Assasin (not planning to craft), name is Xolodna. And yes, both scout types (was a cloker in PS...seems to be my favored profession). As for community....I haven't had too many problems. Word travels fast when you get bad apples and it won't be long before no one will group with the person. I have noticed some WoW refugee's on both PvE and PvP servers, not too many and its a good and bad mix. Yesterday on Lucan D'Lere a got a group invite and curious as to what he wanted. I usually refuse unsolicited group invites, but he was much lower level than me so thought he might be just desperate for some help (a guide to grey out the mobs so he can get to his intended point to finish the last step of a quest or something). No, he plums out and asks "Can you get me a pony? Or give me 30 gold for a pony?" (I was on my mustang). I responded "Work for it like I did" /leave. But for the most part, most WoW refugee's have just been asking typical newbie questions. |
