I was Watching the WRC on TV and saw the most awesome crash ever.
This subaru came around a bend and hooked it's tires in a rut and wobbled a good bit, then it just gently tipped over and rolled. BUT! It rolled all the way back to right side up, and they were still on the course. They kept going and acctualy won the race. It was all on an in car cammera, and the Driver was kinda dazed in the seet and the co-driver was like "HOLLY SHIT KEEP GOING! GO GO GO"

Last year in Greece, one of the Fords was coming round a corner on the edge of a big hill and rolled off. The hill was basically a bunch of rocks. I think the car rolled 20 or 30 feet before it stopped. They even had a camera view from inside the car as it was rolling. :P

WRC is all about crashes, but honest to god. Watch some record setting runs.
I have a video of finnish WRC driver Petter Solberg driving his 2004 Subaru through Ouninpohja, and setting a new stage record. It's an in-car view, so you hear all the pace notes and sounds of the engine. At one point, he goes over an enormous jump and there is a sea of finnish flags waving and a shitload of airhorns blaring and he goes airborne for about 3 seconds. It's absoloutely nuts. |
