In light of recent events I have picked up my pen once more and started drawing more often instead of just doodling. I'm actually thinking of picking up a wacom tablet to ease up on the purchase of material. (Plus paper is such a tired medium)
Feel free to leave comments and criticism. I'm trying to get better and am making a portfolio to distribute to tattoo artists that I know. So anything you can bring to the table will be appreciated. My most recent attempt at a portrait. It's from an old picture of my girlfriend (I'm including it for comparing.) Now on to some older stuff. Hand study: The hand on top looks flat, I'm aware. Not sure how to fix it. Sword of Kratos. Lotus flowers tattoo style nothing amazing. Our evil overlord Hamma.... ermmm Sauron That's it for now...

Art is an acquired skill. While some possess natural talent, its something that requires patience, practice and dedication to be good at regardless of who you are.
My Grandfather was an amazing artist who was offered a job by Walt Disney (who incidentally got drunk and got hit by a Truck stumbling home from a bar one night). He used to draw strippers at the pole as they danced. I managed to inherit a little bit of artistic talent from him, but I don't apply it really. I've seen people who couldn't draw a stick figure really make themselves great, successful artists. Keep at it. The first bit of advice I'd like to give, critiquing your work, is to be more sure of your linework once you've got it roughed out. Try to avoid erasing as much as possible so you can see your mistakes and make them better. They also help add depth. Here's my latest doodle, so you don't think I'm just talking out my ass =P. It took me about an hour or so on and off while at work in between calls. I draw maybe 1-2 pictures a year when the mood strikes me. Last edited by Kumoblade; 2009-10-31 at 11:19 PM. |

Hahaha
I get that alot. She turns alot of heads, it's a blessing and a curse, I'll make a thread as soon as I get some pictures of me and her together (where I don't look like an ass) to see how people have changed over the years around here. I'll be working on more drawings pretty soon. I'm really hoping to get an apprenticeship. If any of you need work done I'll charge less... thing is you need to come to ottawa. :P
