I dont think they could get away with patching less than once a month. Although the first few months will probably see more frequent patches to fix the bugs beta testers missed.

First few months we will probably see a ton of "emergency patches", so probably 2-4 times a month, but once the game stabalizes, monthly is a good estimate.

One every week! With each one should come a new weapon or vehicle. Anything else is unacceptable!

Well patchs rarely come on a regular interval, it's erratic. If there's a new problem they make a new patch otherwise no need ('cept for upgrades).

My only experience with an MMORG was Ultima Online, but UO was getting patched at least once a week. So I'd expect for the first few months daily, then once most of the issues have been worked out every 2 weeks to a month. New exploits, new updates, any less and wheres your $10-15 going towards? Figure only a couple 100K people (low number, with MILLIONS of comps just in USA, and that $10 a month turns into a 1M per MONTH income. I expect it to be used.

DAOC sold 111,000 copies of Shrouded Isles (their latest expansion), in the first month it was on the shelves (December).

Each copy is an account.
Each account generates $12.95 a month.

Gross Earnings a month: $1,437,450
That is nearly 1.5 million dollars a month.

We do pay for something.

AC had monthly patches aside from the quick fixes after the patches went live. Some things were too large/took more time to make so sometimes a patch was skipped.

I would say, unless they set a patch thing like AC (Once a month, once 2 months, once every hour ... etc) then it will probabloy range from 2 weekish to 2 monthish. Weekish ones will probably be little fixes more than anything.

Devs read this and start crying. Well i was pretty used to EQ patching once a week. Some times it was bug fixs and tweaks, but other times it was simply updating the community, and probally sneaking in things for GM events

It worked out, servers only came down at low times. No one was shocked to see they couldnt get on. And the patches were generally small so not to bother anyone with an hour of downloading. Even if all they do is reset the servers and do some general maintanence, everyone logs back in and is happy to start blasting away. So i hope for weekly.

As Kiwi said, in the first couple of months you will probably see several patches. Once that ends, I think patches will probably come less than once a month. With the possibility of implementing new features, they will probably release LARGE patches rather than 1 per month. I would think it would be something like 1 every 2-3 months, just enough to keep the game from getting stale, but not so much that gamers will get annoyed at having to upgrade every time they go online to play.

Of course it's all speculation, and there's really no way to tell.

I assume that they will patch when neccessary, but I wishfully voted for the once a month option.

As often or a frequently as necessary. If there are super bugs present and cheating going on, then I wan a patch a day. If everyhting is smooth, then I couldn't care less how often the patch.
