It may just be me, but I for one really miss the weather movements of the original Planet side. I know it had little to know effect on the game play itself, but the immersion level was higher to look at the map and see rolling storms throughout the continents. I enjoyed flying through them simply because it mixed up the scenery and made a base attack during a thunderstorm bad ass IMO. Anyone agree/even remember what I am talking about?

I know exactly what you mean. Exactly the visualization and immersion. That was something I liked to see perk-up a lot more in the original PlanetSide but it didn't...

I thought the weather was cool too, but I sacrificed it for years in order to improve performance. Now, even though the sound and visuals could be labeled a distraction, I still think the cool factor outweighes that. My only concern for Next is the amount of lag the weather will create.

Respawned to a base on the other side of Ish today and walked out the door into a sandstorm; was pretty sweet.
Weather adds immensely to the atmosphere (pun?) of the game. Night combat will really mix things up as well. |

They definitely need to make weather have an effect on draw distances. That and make plants impossible to remove.

I really enjoyed those weather effects. It took some time before I realised you could turn them off. Beside gaining a minor performance boost, it also removed the limited vision range some storms caused you to have, it was also then when I put one and one together why I got snipped with out me being able to see a single enemy unit through the storm.
This always made me wonder if they where removed because of performance issues (what I doubt) or because the imbalance it created over those who had it turned on versus those who had it turned off. |

Would you guys want weather to have an effect on gameplay other than draw distance? Say aircraft can't enter a sand storm without crashing or land vehicles have are slowed during a heavy rain storm if they aren't on a road.
I don't know whether I would like this or not but it would certainly make players have to change their tactics in certain situations. |

I think this is really important, having others gain advantages because they play the game in lowest detail is an unfair advantage and kind of lame imo. |
