Rift

Been playing this a crapload. and boy its def one of the most polished mmo launches I have ever seen.

Alot of people judge a book by its cover. When you see the UI for the game, you think WoW. And thats what turns people off. I stuck it in there until level 10 and BOY. The Zone Wide Rift Invasions are honestly the most fun I have ever had in a MMO.

The Trion Team is willing to try other things which is fanstatic. They have stated many times to the community they will try new things out. and if it does not work out. They will not keep it in the game.

Risky but its something new.

I recommend this to EVERYONE. Hands down it really surprised me.

It does have is liner quests like wow does and every other RPG on the market. But it also has Dynamic Content all over the place. Something that no MMO has really done. Try it out.

I heard they had only a million pre-orders yet only enough server space for 75,000 players on release day.

Does not inspire confidence in their abilities as a company.

Looks interesting, will there be a trial? Won't try it before beta's over.

I remember the queues for WoW on launch day.

No, not launch day. Launch week, and then some. That company now has over 14 million subscribers for an MMO that's 6 years old and still going strong...

I had a taste of Rift in open beta, but only got as far as level 9/10ish myself. Loved the class system more than anything else, but I was also pleased to see what they'd done with the default UI configuration options. I didn't get to discover the Rift events, but the questing was good enough, especially as it hadn't even launched yet.

The potential's definitely there and the attitude of the developers looks promising. It's certainly amazing how polished it is for a new release compared to some of the MMOs that have been around for 5+ years...Now if only my computer could run it at more than 15fps, I might get the full game.

WoW released in 2004... Rift released in 2011. People's expectations are a bit higher is my point. Competition should set its sights higher than Blizzard's, not on par or below.

The excuse of, "But all the other kids got B's", never worked with my parents and it shouldn't work here.

Regardless, time will tell. I imagine many people will unsub when they realize this company will be no better at balancing than Blizzard is, but who knows. It could unseat WoW.

(WoW has only announced having 12 million active accounts as far as I'm aware.)

The money in this business is so tight, they aren't going to order more servers than they thought they'd need "just in case", especially having spent so much more than usual on pre-release development (apparently.)

How well Rift does will depend on whether Trion continues to listen to the community and respond to it correctly. WoW has far too many players for anything to unseat it yet, though (I could have sworn I saw a 14 million article, but maybe not).

That's my point; their estimates were horrible. If you get over a million pre-orders how could you possibly think room for 75,000 players on release date would work out?

Every new company now-a-days that claims they're going to be more open to community suggestions haven't came through on that promise in the long run. IE, RIOT games and Hi-Rez.

Not holding my breathe for this.

Looks a lot like the dynamic events in GW 2... a game which is going to be F2P after the initial purchase. I get that you're comparing it's PVE to WoW's PVE... but PVE in general sucks after the first time through, regardless of the game. It's too scripted. Too predictable. I'm not really seeing that as a huge incentive to switch.

Not to mention I've heard there's up to 224 possible talent specs? Blizzard can't even balance 30, I highly doubt Rift will ever be near WoW's balance, unless every spec is almost the exact same.

I'll go play that then...Oh wait, I can't. It doesn't exist yet.

Supposedly some of the WAR guys are part of Trion (minus EA and the fail of Denton/Hicks/Barnett), so I wouldn't be surprised if the WAR public quests were their inspiration (as well as ArenaNet's.)

The fact you are encouraging us to play a game that doesn't start with "Plan" and end with "etside" is blasphemous and you sir, are done. So who has 2 thumbs and doesn't give a shit? <-- <-- This guy.

Well this is a general gaming forum

Anyway - I wouldn't hold them not having enough servers on day one against them. There is a massive investment in time and especially money to get that going. Does it suck they were not up? Sure. But it is allot to ask.

And remember folks, Realm server's consist of probably 60 servers a piece it's not just install windows 2008 server and call it a day.

Wow guys. I was just stating how I liked the game. This is crazy.

Bash me for just telling you about it.

Bags you need to chill out, first of 1million people did not preorder the game dummy. 1 million people have Trion Accounts. You can sign up right now for free. And im sure most of the Trion Accounts where made during the open beta period a few weeks ago. Please do some research before you post.

And whats the point of posting a image saying no one cares.?? This is a general gaming forum. It was just game talk. I dont understand some people.
