Text macros -- in or out?

Greetings. Rivenshield here, Markov TR fuck yeah, driver of Teh Raider Of D00M.... and amidst all the excitement over graphics and weapons and big colorful important splody stuff one question seems to have gone unasked: What about text macros? How do you tell people outside of your squad not to tap out, so you can rez them? or not to move, so you can fix them? or even shout encouraging slogans in the midst of battle without stopping to type things out?

I recall creating one hotkeyed macro that told nearby damaged TR to STOP MOVING so I can FIX you, you ARMORED FREAK! That got plenty of LOLs back in the day, and also achieved the object. My all time fave, though, had to be the advanced medic who -- while he was rezzing you -- would utter the immortal words: Rise, my undead minion! Rise, and KILL!

We could do it in original PS. We could do it in SWG, which they seem to be importing the resource system from. I want to know if we can hotkey our own pet slogans/wisecracks/whatever in the *new* model MMORPS.

Am I the only one?

Among other things PlanetSide 2 will be an MMO, so there will definitely be a chat window, and that typically means test macros, too. Maybe not colored this time, but I would be really surprised if macros themselves didn't make it into the sequel.

Who knows, maybe PS2 will display your text above your head as well?

Don't see why they wouldn't be in.... They are giving us voice macros... A better interface with nice syntax and some more utility in the text macros would be great though....

I liked them. I had a bunch of colorful ones. They were all nonsensical.
