The Pulsar has no buttstock... was it like that before?

It's been years since I've played Planetside 1; did the Pulsar always lack a stock? Just an odd stylistic thing for me, though without a stock, one would imagine that the gun would be harder to aim. However, despite this little detail, the Vanu are (to me) not only my single beloved faction, but this week's theme has shown that they are STUNNINGLY awesome looking. Can't wait to start hurling some plasma bolts across the battlefield!

You can see the original Pulsar here

Ah, ok, so it DID have a rear stock; that's what I thought. Now, to be sure, the new one looks beautiful, but the omission of a stock seems odd to me.

Perhaps there will be a sidegrade that reduces ammunition in favor of more accuracy and puts a stock on the back or something.

Well in the VS empire brief it did describe the VS weapons as lacking recoil, so perhaps that's why it has been omitted

It's true that their weapons lack recoil, but part of aiming is anchoring the arm/s that hold the weapon. If your arm/hand is basically floating in the air, it will waver more, and the shot will be less accurate, whether or not the weapon recoils. Again, this is a minor stylistic issue; I'm really pleased with the art design of the VS.

Where did you see a buttstockless Pulsar?

I actually asked about this in another thread. Regardless if the gun has no recoil, buttstocks still help with shooter comfort/aiming and bringing the gun to aim quickly.

The image of "the Pulsar without a buttstock" is on the new PC Gamer article. It's the image of the Vanu in what looks like a shootout on Indar, one's hiding behind a rock, and the Vanu soldier in the foreground is hefting his Pulsar- instead of a stock, the weapon's back has a slope of scales that crest down to the grip.

And yeah, I'm glad to hear that you're thinking about this too, Oryon. Not a huge deal, but something that struck me as odd.

Can we get a digital screenshot of what you're talking about? Sounds like you are discribing the Beamer rather then the Pulsar.

Fifth photo from the top; the one in the desert at daytime. The soldier conspicuously in the foreground (it's actually a beautifully clear shot of the Pulsar; you can see that it has no buttstock, just a slope of scales running down the back of the gun).

Does look weird, looks more like a HA weapon you should fire from the hip rather then a rifle.

I think the Pulsar looks kind of weird without it to be honest but....

Yeah, I'm with you, D2A, I'm not too overly worried, because I'm expecting there will be a "version" of the Pulsar that has a buttstock.

What does everyone else think?
