Friendly Fire Damage Prevention

As an alternative to trying to police TKers and grief, how about eliminating friendly fire damage. BUT, any fire that is canceled by the fact that there are friendlies, is also blocked from hurting enemies. So spamming tank shells through a door, if it touches one friendly with the splash, the damage is negated for everyone, friendly and enemy. This would work against mindless spammage that miraculously only hurts enemies. In order to kill enemies, you have to NOT be hitting friendlies either with your fires, with this system.

So, Lasher-spam would not work if it was also tagging friendlies. In effect, friendly damage of any sort completely negates any enemy damage the same shot from the same weapons would do.

This might be a far better solution than trying to reduce TKing and the lack-of-accountability murders that go on. Make ramming into some friendly with a vehicle just sweep them out of the way. Does it really add anything to the game for tanks to mow their own empire?

By eliminating the ability of people of questionable morals or sanity to hurt anyone from the same empire in any way, it eliminates that disease vector from being able to negatively impact play and get away with it.

I think it would be a far more pleasant game when it was impossible to have enemies killing you while disguised as friends, but, simultaneously, made it so the presence of friendlies in your AOE of fire would be a negative, and still something you avoid, because it was detrimental to the damage you could do to enemies.

So, for example, if you flew over a crowd and dropped a bunch of cluster bombs, any of them that caused any damage to a friendly would not harm the enemy, but any that harmed only enemies would be completely effective.

This would be a far more pleasant experience, allow more uninterrupted gameplay, and still make it so weapon-spamming a mixed crowd would have some negative consequence.

By simply eliminating friendly fire damage, the game becomes far more attractive for those who are not psychopaths who revel in being traitors.

You might be taken seriously if you're posts and ideas were not so retarded.

Keep friendly fire in, lets let them workout their system for expunging ass hats then offer suggestions once we see it to improve it instead of throwing out CLEARLY spastic ideas.

Skyexile, I think your obsession with stalking me and attacking me personally instead of just disagreeing is just not appropriate or necessary.

Here, I restated it for you, minus any emotional content:

"I don't agree. I think we should keep friendly fire in place, and people should exercise more caution."

You seem more emotional about FF, than exile about your thread.

Eliminating all damage if you so much hit a friendly with splash damage seems a little bit silly.

In Planetside 1, You needed to exercise restraint when opening fire, and you needed to strategically shoot around, or move in formation to avoid hitting friendlies while killing an enemy.

The negative consequence of weapon spamming was the fact that you would do damage to friendlies, and you would accumulate grief.

If it was a problem at the squad or platoon level you could be kicked from the squad, or the squad could be locked if he/she was persistent.

All that friendly-damage possibility added something to the game.

Besides I always thought it funny cloakers would stand in front of tank columns, I think I have something like 10K friendly cloaker kills and 1K enemy total. The entire game cannot cater to your selected mode of play alone. FF, although annoying to those with no armor, was an awesome element in Planetside, it prevented blind weapon spam in ways that your method cannot.

I can't see any of your responses. I hope they are intelligent, relevant to the topic, and free of any abuse or personal attacks.

Speaking of not being able to see responses, Traak's totally going on my ignore list.

Your ratio of quality posts to shit posts leans far too much towards the shit side.

I think this idea has run it's course.

And honestly this is far to complicated of a system, as mentioned just let them handle it as they plan to.
