special announcement was, that there is a contest on ps2 facebook, where you can send in faction slogans.
you can win tshirts and stickers. and your slogan will be used in the game and on future shirts Last edited by Shogun; 2011-12-08 at 08:33 PM. |

I would prefer it if they would only tell us they are making a "big announcement" if the actual announcement is big. Shirts and stuff are cool but the bit about the life-sucking-scaled lightning bolt grenade was much bigger than anything else during that. Maybe I shouldn't have assumed that the topic was in response to the recent whining about not know how each faction was so unique, I guess I was hoping for a bit more of the nitty gritty details after the first few minutes of banter.
I do however like the idea of switching my Twitter picture to my empire, we would get a good representation of the people who actually pay attention to it and how their fans are distributed. |

Clearly nothing "big" and all they could've done was send a twitter message or posted on facebook if they wanted to announce the contest. The hype created by Higby was a real disappointment.
However, they are devs and can say whatever they want, because they know people like us will rave about it because we want to get our hands on every morsel of PS2 info. I could care less about slogans because all I want to do is play the game.

Updated. Sounds like they got yelled at about our AGN Cast judging from what T-Ray said. Guess they don't realize the power of communicating that closely with your community. |

They did deliver on the "Faction Smackdown" part, though. TR might be "superior" but the smack performance could at most be described as "sub-par".
Taina, the real TR overlord ? Sending Chachi puppets to the slaughter and controlling the crowds from behind. Sooooo machiavellic... Typical TR behavior. While the Vanu stand up for their looks. Affirmation Purple ! Last edited by sylphaen; 2011-12-08 at 08:53 PM. |

While I was disappointed that there wasn't much for information or screenshots/video, (I don't know why they were lacking for questions, PSU has those in ******), and it was kind of anti-climactic about the contest announcement since both Basti guessed it several hours earlier and the PS2 twitter posted it as the show was starting before they even announced it, I figure I should stand up a little for the TR and try to say why I (as a newbie) enjoy playing them. (Although I did enjoy the banter for just being something light and fun).
I like the TR because they are a tight group that are doing what they think is right, which is the safety and security of all Auraxis. I guess if you want to compare ideologies I view TR as big government, NC as big business and VS as big religion. The government should be by the people and for the people (they are the ones with the programs helping people despite the frontline government workers earning low wages I am sure as opposed the the New Conglomerate businessmen). While the NC see themselves as freedom fighters it sometimes comes across that they are just mercenaries (think private security forces) bought by large corporations who didn't like the TR telling them what they could and couldn't do; even though it was for the greater good. The laws were enacted to keep everyone safe They joke about how the TR need to shoot all the bullets and have the most people in order to measure up. I view that as if you want to make sure you and your squad goes home at night you want to do whatever you can to keep them safe, and if that means laying down a lot of fire so be it. Onlookers say the TR is "For the Motherland..." that's not true, it's "for the people", a sentiment of I joined the Terran Republic army to keep those I care about safe and even those I don't know because we are in it together. We are separated from our home and we will not survive by fighting each other or getting greedy and saying I don't like the rules so I am going to leave. The NC may be about an individuals ideas of going against "the man" and the VS are about a higher purpose. But the vast amount of soldiers of the TR are not about tyranny they joined to keep the public safe and putting their lives on the line protecting them because they know it's right. Extra proof:
If I did not believe in Vanu, I'd start being worried about that prowler we haven't seen yet. It's either a stealth tank or a vapor-tank. @TR command: there's nothing superior about hiding in the background. At least, while they look pitiful dead on the ground, the NC have the decency to do their share in our "laser weapons improvement" effort. |
