"HEADSHOT"

So I know this is a VERY sensitive thing amongst us Planetside players...

But I really saw HEADSHOT pop up at least twice.

I wonder how this is going to work, was his final hit/killing shot a headshot, or was it a one shot kill headshot. It looked like all the headshot calls I saw were on guys he was taking multiple shots at and hitting anyways..

Anyone have thoughts or opinions on this?

From what I just saw unless u can provide the time in the utube video.....I saw him hit guys a bunch of times in the head and they didn't die instantly.

Im guessing headshots with a regular rifle get extra damage but not OSOK.

Im sure some snipers will have OSOK

Pretty much confirmed as extra damage, not OSOK like Dreamcast said.

Thats what I was thinking as well. Its extra damage but not a one shot kill.

I still WOULD like to see one shot kill headshots in the heavy sniper rifles.

EDIT: I tried looking but what does OSOK mean?

If you saw trying to hit someone at mid/long range whos moving in the head was nearly impossible.

And smaller unarmoured targets were even harder to hit. So my guess is headshots will be abit like Battlefield, where its more an accidental thing with an SMG or an Assault. Than a calculated snipe.

Would have liked to see him show us the quick knife, just to see what it looks like for further discussion.

They've talked about doing more damage to the head before.

I don't think it's OSOK.

At the very least you probably need to break shields first.

Re: "HEADSHOT"

The way BF3 deals with headshots is it's a damage multiplier (2.0x for all weaps except shotties which have a 2.4x). This allows the Dev's to adjust damage on weapons so that perhaps sniper rifles would have a OSOK for a headshot, but not pistols or assault rifles. Keep in mind, range will effect a reduction in damage.

IMO, its a pretty good system.

I was just talking about Non-snipers and normal weapons. Sorry my first comment wasn't clear.

So, did they mention snipers were gonna have OSOK, on other body parts or head only?

For sure yeah. I totally dig it. My only point here was that I saw "Headshot" pop up a few times and was wondering if anyone really had any idea of how it worked or maybe saw something I didnt.

No idea what-so-ever; would be a great question to ask the Dev's. At this point, I would only assume that the "Headshot" message simply reflected that the death blow came by way of headshot verses it being a OSOK.
