Still no details with close range specialties or actual IN-PHIL-TRAY-SHUN abilities. A Sniper just infiltrates skulls with bullets, I wan't to know how many different explosives I have, how good I can get with a knife, how hard will I be to detect?

In the GDC interview thread I suggested infiltrators be the only class capable of doing spotting.
If that's the case that is a very valuable teamwork asset for an infiltrator. Not only can they truly provide intel, but they can easily communicate it using the spotting mechanic. Gives some cool unique benefits for each class - Infiltrator = cloak & spotting - Light assault = jetpack & ammo - Medic = heal & revive - Engineer = repair & deployables - HA = heavy ordinance & apparently supershields - MAX = vehicle class armor & extreme firepower Cloak is nice and good for infiltrator but they need something more. Spotting is a good option for that IMO. Faster interaction on hacking/sabotauge objects could be another useful perk for the team. |

Cloakers and snipers play a niche role in pretty much every game in which they are implemented, so it's not terribly surprising that a 30 or 40 man platoon will not employ a large number of them. The infiltrator or two that you do bring along ought to be instrumental, but the nature of the stealthy and squishy role is such that the law of diminishing returns rapidly applies.
