!!!!!!!!
HALO 2 just got delayed until Q1 '04 Now I wasn't expecting it till Nov. of 03, so this isn't that huge of a delay. But the thing is, if they delay it once, they'll delay it again. I had somehow convinced myself that bungie were not restricted by the gods of time and could manipulate the flow of said time at their will, but obviously this is not the case. Now I can only pray the game hits the fall of '04 DAMNIT TO HELL!! MY LIFE IS SH*T!!! *remembers planetside* ok it's not so bad anymore. Horray for planetside! My savior!!! -LT

Nope, you aren't alone. I've played and beaten Halo. Lame.
There are no triggers to speak of, you just walk through and shoot things. The supposed 'awesome' AI just has unGodly accuracy on Legendary. IMO this doesn't begin to match Half-Life's AI system. What I've heard, but could care less to verify, is that there were several more weapons in Halo that were removed when Microsoft bought it, along with the PC port idea. Halo ran at a meek 30fps peak. There were less than 10 weapons which is sad for any FPS. The only vehicle that was any fun to drive was the Warthog and the Ghost. The others were slow and lame or only in Story mode. Pleasure toward a game is completely opinion. I wouldn't take a rating as "best console FPS ever" as a compliment. Seriously, look at what the FPS genre has on Console. It's top two competetors were Goldeneye and Perfect Dark, both by Rare both on the Nintendo 64; a system that was dwarded by the PSX. Some may take that as a title to wear with pride. But, nothing will ever steal "Best FPS period, ever." (did that on purpose) from Half-Life. Except maybe Half-Life 2. Looking at all that; you can see why I despise to call Halo anything remotely "the best". If I were to get an X-Box, DOA3 would be my top choice atm. Not because it's halfnaked fighter chicks, hell I seldomly use them. But, because it's the most expansive fighting game I've ever seen. Crazy moves, insane graphics, wonderful fighting engine. That is a game. Halo is only mediocre.

Bah. More weapons do -not- make for a better game. Who -cares- if you have six different kinds of machine guns. One will -always- be better than the rest, so the rest don't get used.
Yes, Halo was short. I beat the whole game on whatever the second difficulty level was in 8 hours (on a borrowed XBox, so I'm glad I didn't waste my money). Lame. But it -is- fun. I just wish they'd not killed the PC version (though, last I heard, which was a very very long time ago, they were -supposedly- going to still release it). The multiplayer was more fun, but you could never find enough people with XBoxes to play. |

I agree halo wasn't that good. It didn't suck, but it wasn't as good as everyone hyped it to be. The auto aim ruined it for me. Basically in multiplayer the person who wins is the one who starts shooting the other with the pistol first. The sniper takes some skill, but the game still bores me. More variety in weapons and vehicles, and taking away auto aim woulda made it much better. Also, the single player was too easy. It was a "Good" game, but not amazing. I think the best console FPS of all time was perfect dark, and still is. So, you aren't the only one.

Yes, i have played it, frequently. Alot of my friends have it and we have an Xbox too, so we have been able to borrow it at times. Ive also been to a party thing where we had 4 Xboxs LAN'd. That was kinda fun.
But the game itself, i dont like. My man gripe is that the joysticks on the controller are just horrible, but i guess im just too used to using the mouse for FPS games. I could go on about whats good and whats bad, but ill just say that for my tastes the bads outweigh the good. |
