Re: A warship to replace 'Galaxy Gunship'

First, that concept you have has entirely too much firepower. While I support it, and like the overall idea - that beast doesn't belong in PS2 as-is. At current flight ceiling and map size that thing could rape 3 bases at the same time.
Second, the military uses one vehicle for many different roles all the time. The best I can think of is the C-130. It started out as a troop transport and then someone decided to strap cannons to it making it the AC-130. There's nothing wrong with respeccing the Gal, but I do wish they would move the turrets around or something.
Third, I completely support the addition of vehicles. I'm sure we can all agree that the galaxy gunship is a beast, but it's gun placements make it less than ideal outside of air or certain ground skirmishes. The Liberator is a terror as long as you're directly above your target. The faction air support (reaver for NC) is a great dog fighting and CAS. What we don't have is a ranged tactical strike vehicle.
When I say ranged, I mean medium range. I don't mean 900M straight above (lib), or 4KM out(nothing). A good medium range gunship would be a pretty great addition. Basically you'd have a two seater vehicle that excels at sitting on the edge of the battle and causing havoc to vehicles and personnel. It would be a super squishy vehicle, so you'd need to give it just enough range to be outside of the battles Infantry AA. The aircraft would be intended to come up over terrain, acquire a target, launch a few missiles, then bail and repeat. It would have 0 lock-on options and all shots would be hand guided in some manor. It's most effective combat position would be a hover. A single fighter would be able to pick it off with ease. Like an Apache.
::EDIT:: It would not be far enough to not see visually if you were looking for it.
::EDIT:: Basically, a sniper rifle for the air.
