I am a male 49 years old and have been playing mainline online games as far back as UO. I say mainline only because prior to that I played BBS MUDs MUSH, and MOOS (text based bulletin board and later internet) modem to modem), as well as direct connection games like Duke Nukem and Doom via a modem, and lesser know great multi player games like CyberStrike via dialup service. Even before that I was casual player of D&D (Forgotten Realms) but that is another story.
From UO on I have played just about every online game there is, I have participated in many Betas, and have went on and played some games for years some and some not so much. I always like to play with a clan (or guild) and have been in three total over the years always in some type of leadership position. The games that stand out the most for me is UO, SWG, and to a lesser degree SWTor (Durmanhoth Clan - DC). AOC, and Darkfall (Varangian Guard - VG). WWII online (now called Battleground Europe), and Planetside (6th Marine Division also known as the 3 commandos), who I lost track of I know you guys are out there give me a yell!
Some of the other games I played and really liked was CyberStrike and Tanarus on GEnie, but like I said primarily I like a game a clan can prosper in (I feel a clan adds new layers to all games) I also prefer a paramilitary type of guild (vs. majority rules). I like player vs. player, although there should be some type of "reason" to kill. In other words counter strike is fun for a little, side vs. side, or clan vs. clan PvP keeps you interested in playing (especially if you have something to lose i.e. a base, land, or whatever).
I am still trying to talk DC into taking a closer look at PS2 (it's not just another shooter!) but I suspect I will be playing solo until I can find a decent squat to join (again 6th Marine Division if you're out their give me a yell).
