Aircraft need energy retention.

Make it simple for a start. When you dive from a giving altitude you gain speed ie: energy. When you climb from a given altitude you lose energy. Please make it happen. As of right now (when examining TB live stream) you cannot gain or lose speed in a dive or climb. So for example: if i climb to 1km and decide to dive back down to surface level, i will remain at a constant max speed given to all 3 types of aircraft as of now.

During the tour of the development studio at the community event we were told that there is a physx team from nVidia working with them and the physics for all vehicles is still very much a work in progress. I expect the energy effects you mention are a big priority as well as friction for ground vehicles.

They're dumbing games down, not smartening them up.

Is smartening a word?

Quit being such a physicist! Just say speed! Energy could be weapons or shielding or nanite repair or any number of things.

Edit: or if your going to scientific, the term your looking for is acceleration. But as mentioned, perhaps that is not yet turned on in the physics engine.

I'm pretty sure that aircraft were already accelerating while changing altitude in the videos.

When said player hits the boost button. Thats it. With normal flying physics are not in play.

Why are you always so God damned negative about this game?

Also, I definitely agree, we do need energy retention. However, this is more than likely already in the works.

I'm glad with what Sony has in place now. It could be very well possible that at the current level of hardware that implementing actual physics to all vehicles may not be feasible at the scale of this game without alienating people with mid range systems.

I'm sure two years down the road if this game takes off an expansion to the game (containing things like the "sandbox" elements that Higby, etc. have talked about for the future of the game) could implement these features since hardware will have improved (as well as Ps4 being out...)

I have not watched too many video's, do the aircraft still have boosters?

while it was hard to tell definitively by the e3 and other footage, it seemed to me that there was some from of energy loss/retention in aircraft.

no official word yet though, so only beta will tell

BUT! there is hope!
