Base Structures


With the exception of Biodomes it seems like most structures are fairly open...

Do you think they will add any bases with subterranean features? Like a few tunnels leading to CIC areas?

I certainly hope so, however the question is; would subterran bases with tunnels lead to bottle necks? Tunnels are fairly easy to defend, at least if there are no multiple ways to get inside the base.

That would certainly be interesting. Fighting through cramped tunnels would be a change of pace.

Maybe, but only if the caverns were just another way out of many to get into the core of a base.

Keep in mind that Choke points are pretty much anathema now. They're still there, but they are few and spaced far apart and no single base will likely have more than 1 possibly 2 control points that are capable of being guarded by a single choke.

I'm thinking that having 2 opposite tunnel entrances as well as multiple tunnels in the complex and interconnected rooms would allow for significant flanking opportunities, that combined with cloaks, would be a feasible counter to camping.

I think it could work for a Cliff-face/Mountain Peak bunker design.
