Questions of Flight

I'm new to the Planetside world and am very very anxiously awaiting my chance to get into Beta and then the actual release of the game. I am strongly considering focusing on being a pilot in the game, but am unsure. Does anyone have any comments on how the vehicles handle and what games/simulators I might try in order to practice until I can actually get into the game. (for reference I plan on playing TR and was thinking of flying a liberator with some friends).

As an addendum, does anyone know if the game will be compatible with flight sticks and/or how effective they might be in terms of game integration and usefulness?

to your second question, yes, there will be joystick support, to your first question, perhaps bf3 would be a good way to practice, or microsoft flight simulator ( the free one ) is also a good way

It will be a pleasure either flying by your side or gunning you down.

*Evilly hopes for the gunning you down option*

I love my flight sims...

there was a tweet by higby saying he had the logitech 940 or w/e that set is, which is rudders, throttle and stick, so second question, as rabaan said is yes.

i would say BF3, especially if you will be TR.
TR is said to be fastest, light armored, quick firing and quick reloading. (quick passes)
NC are a bit slower, more armored and fire more powerful guns.(slower longer passes)
VS can turn on a dime and act as helicopters and jets (think flying saucer)

i say BF3 because the jets are rather delicate....1 stinger and you are basicaly screwed (no disabling effect in PS2), and because you have to avoid the ground unit as well as air units and get disabled and usually die quickly, it would be good practice for a TR unit as you will likely be doing hit and run attacks at near full speed much like BF3.
the PS vehicles take off vertically and can hover and side strafe to some degree as well, so using a BF3 chopper a bit could help familiarize yourself with being able to fly sideways.

Probably BF3 will be the closest although it isn't the same. A flight sim won't help you it's not realistic flight.
