I am not going to pretend I know anything about how SOE plans to detect hackers, but I think the hacker sites made a huge mistake letting out their hacks during beta. I think SOE was really smart not to reveal their anti-hacker systems till launch.
I for one, hope there will be a mass ban for anyone caught using these hacker programs on day 1, just so I can browse all the QQ on the hacker sites when they all cry, "OMG I got banned refund my hack subscription" Thoughts? |

Well there's no real punishment for getting banned permanently, unless you have some SC to worry about. They will probably just work harder.

They haven't said a ton about their plans to counter cheaters for very important reasons. Rest assured they have put tons of thought into it. One thing to remember is PlanetSide 2 servers will have 24/7 admins there aren't many FPS games like that.

I would think this may be one of the main reasons for no pre-loading of the game. SOE want to keep it as close to the chest as possible until release.
It will be funny though , as while there may be no punishment in terms of it being a free game , some of these sites actually " sell " the software used to inject the hacks . that will make for plenty of QQ in itself :P |

As far as I know they will be using PB. Sadly I don't know enough about how hardware bans work or how viable they are but I've been corrected in the past by someone telling me that's not really viable or even possible. I wish I had more knowledge about this but I guess we'll see just what measures they will be taking when the first bans start rolling out.

If they are using PB then you can expect an almost equal amount of QQ from normal players having issues with it lol. Seriously never seen a game use it, and not give someone problems.
That said I do hope what ever they use that it's efficient, and that hackers can't easily get around it by making more free accounts. Would hate to see the game brought down like this. The whole gaming industry will probably be watching to see how this goes which will determine if MMOFPS becomes a popular genre. |
