I think your looking at this as comparing it to past games, obviously SOE knows they cannot afford to lose population of paying cu$tomers to drop something in the game that would lag a server so bad. I would not expect to see this thing for a year or more until the get this game really optimized and also allow server and gaming rig technology to advance a bit more. They seem to have a long term plan of implementing things as the technology can handle it.

Also it's amazing how well the game plays now out of the gate with 2,000 plus in a massive map with vehicles and such. I will give them the benifit of the doubt that they will be able to pull this off when it's time. Will it be perfect....maybe not....but at least they are trying to push the limits instead of simply wash, rinse, repeat the same content like other cash grabbing developers are doing.

Are you insinuating that drop pods should be tied to these larger carriers? Meaning it's required you position it over a specific area for drop pods to even have the ability to drop in a given location?

@ VaderShake Agreed, it's certainly worth a try, I just agree very strongly that they cannot rush this.

Also, for those who have been mistaken, those variants on the deviantart link are NOT for the 3 different factions- they're just different ships for the TR. Like a carrier, then battleship, then cruiser. Though I guess you could interpret it that way.

...So are we talking space-battles here, or simply hovering bases?

It actually says so in the description here:
http://ukitakumuki.deviantart.com/ar...RIER-340427943

The underside has a "Spawn Bay / Elevator" that "The Spawn Bay can manufacture and immediately hot-drop Medium sized airframes from four bay doors located directly beneath the Spawn Bay"

So these are in fact where drop pods come from!

Well...that's where TR drop pods come from. VS and NC drop pods come from jettisoning the sewage tanks.

From the size of those doors, I figured it just drop whole aircraft...
