So I had this awesome HTC One X. When I got home I dropped it on the garage floor. Since my hands were full, I opted to come back and get it later. Fast forward to after dinner; I forgot it was there and went to the store to get my lovely pregnant wife some peanut butter chocolate chip cookies she was craving. I ran over my beautiful phone. My goal now is to see how much cognac I can consume while retaining consciousness.
And no, I don't have the fucking accidental damage replacement plan because I thought it cost too much with the co-pay. |

That really sucks man... it's a nice phone (I used to write articles on smartphones).
I would go on amazon or ebay or something and see if I could pick up a replacement. The One X is a pretty new phone but there will be people selling theirs for a profit off a holiday / Black Friday deal or to pick up the Nexus 4. Who knows maybe you'll find a good deal. Is the phone absolutely crushed, no boot etc? If you have a light car and caught the edge of the phone and didn't break the mainboard inside then maybe you can get away with replacing the chassis and glass yourself... it's usually not that hard. I dropped my Samsung Galaxy S 3 on day 2 of owning it (I picked it up a few weeks ago on a deal to replace my Epic 4G) and cracked the glass. I've got replacement glass coming and I'll be replacing it myself rather than pay Samsung $178 to do it. Last edited by Electrofreak; 2012-12-15 at 08:50 AM. |

Well the screen is completely shattered (and a couple tiny spots in the substrate) but it seems to function. I was able to answer a call on it though. The screen shows random stripes but that's about it. Do you really think it can be repaired? I'll check for used ones as well.
Thanks for the reply! |
