XP denial strategies

Why do the game mechanics allow this?

What possible purpose do they serve?

Is it more fun for the lulzyness of griefing your enemies and dealing the frustration on the flipside for most of you? I personally would prefer XP denial strategies were removed, even old school Halo credited kill properly for suicides and that game didn't even use XP and certs as a means for character growth. I mean yeah it feels good to grief my enemies, but it doesn't seem worth it to me, but do you guys like it more like this?

Is there any reason, other then to grief players that XP denial strategies exist?

Because everyone focuses on deconstructing, but that ignores the broader issue. Not to mention it glosses over the more common ways to XP deny and greif players (bailing and crashing).

Re: XP denial strategies

Like originally stated, XP denial tactics are still in full force.

Why? WTF is the point in giving people a button to press (literally) to deny players hundreds of XP? This has nothing to do with "entitlement" or whatever catch phrase people who want to be asshats for the sake of griefing and asshaterry are going to throw around.

XP denial is purely about game mechanics. Higby you have set mechanics purely designed for XP denial. What is the purpose of a game mechanic that allows hundreds of points of XP denial at the touch of the button, literally with no effort? The only point I can see in it is to allow a modicum of greifing lulz for some players while alienating and frustrating others. I'm serious here, I see no other purpose whatsoever. I could sort of see the point if it took skill, but pointing your nose into the ground or hitting your eject button is zero skill, and anyone who wants to do it can and does.

It's purely bad design, and serves no purpose, at all.

I kinda agree. I always kill myself if I know I'm done for, and everyone else does it too.

Yeah, the last person who does damage before a crash or eject should get the kill.

Will it ever happen? Who knows.

I think the reason people do it, is because there can be a small taste of victory in defeat by denying the enemy resources.

Something like: "You might have won, but you didn't get the experience points!"

Although, I don't think every person who crashes does so on purpose, since you lose a lot of thrust when the vehicle catches fire.

No. You scum in the Terran Republic may be so base, but those of us who follow Vanu's higher calling know how to die with honour, saluting our enemies with a modicum of XP before returning to crush them utterly with our superior weapons and glittery purple spandex tights.

Srsly, crashing in a dogfight just happens; kill XP should be given. Ejecting should be an entirely valid way of staying alive; you either have to be flying as light assault, have certed into the ejection seat, or have pretty damned good timing. XP should be given for destruction of the vehicle, and if you get it wrong and suicide then XP should be given for the kill as well.

They don't, I don't. Sometimes you mess up trying to turn through a canyon to evade a pursuer. Doesn't mean they didn't kill me, it just doesn't make sense.

I have been working on stop bailing. I mean, hell, if the person manages to get on my tail or whatever after a high lolpodding streak with a couple of esf kills as well, they deserve that XP. It's just I use auto repair, and then fly as light assault alot of the time to when I bail as engy, I feel bad.

Unless and until there's an efficient way to transmute XP into US Dollars, I could not give less of a wet slap if someone bails out before I put the last round into them.
