NEXT please: Alerts serve no end game purpose.

Its half a year since release and there is still no end game.

Alert only exists to provide large scale battles, and whatever crap bonus you get, who cares really about all these little resources because you can't own a Planet anyway or have a sense of achievement. I rolled with a big clan last night on an alert and I felt no achievement whatsoever logged off and I can't even recall any epic battles or success's in this game since November.

What about all this territory and custom player made equipment. LET ALONE CONTINENTS x10.

Its all just a waste of fucking time and Planetside 2 has no purpose 'yet', but too late you've already lost a tonne of potential people.

Yeah you might want to try and be more constructive about your criticism.
Going to clean your thread up a bit to see if anything constructive can come from it.

Yes, there is no "endgame" yet in the form of actually being able to achieve something worthwhile like say locking a continent, or outfits being able to build something.
I was very sceptical about the alert system at first, but it does seem like it does what it's supposed to be doing very well. Which is making players gravitate towards a single continent. It's not actually endgame content in on itself, it's an event system.

The alert system has actually had a physiological effect on me. I have actually been going "Oh for fucks sake..." Whenever I see TR start losing an alert badly when there's only around 30 minutes left. I actually find myself wanting to win the alerts I take part in.

here we fucking go again. what did Hamma say about bringing up PS1? shut up.

alerts are not just about extra XP, but moving fights to the other 2 continents that isn't indar.

it is very successful at the job, and i have had large fights on the other 2 continents like i never had in a long time. i applaud SOE like that.

now, SOE is slowing putting the stuff that work in PS1 and implementing it in PS2 so it works (that new lattice map is an example of this). yes, the game feels like an open beta (like it should have been released as, imo) atm, but they are constantly adding, making the game more interesting each patch.

now, on your end game thing: do you mean, capping conts? that is comming, jackass.

now go away for 6 months and then come back... i know you will. you'll be back.

You're only now figuring out that video games serve no purpose other than wasting time?

Well, good for you I suppose.

Please add a notice if editing someones post, something like [EDITED: MOD].

Else people will think this is exactly what the person wrote and I can see that things were cut out of the post.

Please indicate where you censored the poster and what you changed, thank you.

The Alert System was not supposed to be an end game solution, it is a stop gap to give players an objective outside of 'RUSH CROWN!'

Planetside 2 is not an MMORPG, there is no real "End game" content, the entire game is the content, it's played to have fun and to crush the opposing faction, no we can't lock continents yet, but it's not terribly necessary when there are only 3 continents to work with. All continent locking will do is FORCE people to move to a different place to play. The alert system is giving an incentive to players to participate elsewhere.

Perhaps this just isn't the game for you? I have participated in many epic battles in my time since the Stress Tests. I have had many battles that left me with an amazing sense of accomplishment. When there is an alert going on, unless I know the fight I am at is a very important objective (such as holding back the enemy zerg force from steam rolling base after base) I will try to go to the alert since I know as a team player and skilled player, my presence will make a difference.

I feel like you were expecting PS2 to develop at some incredibly over the top rate. You expected there to be 10 continents and all of the game content within 4.5 months of release? You also claim it's been 6 months, November 20th was the release date of PS2, You've got 10 days in November, December, January, February, March, and 13 days in april. That's just over 4.5 months.

Good point.

I highly doubt that, unless you read the original post.

Would defeat the purpose.

I generally get very pissed when mods censor or edit posts (its bad netiquette), but never mind that for the moment.

You -can- add what you changed without it "defeating the purpose"
Example:
[Edited: Offensive Language] - if the language was offensive
[Edited: Formatting] - If you changed formatting.
[Edited: Non Constructive] - if it wasn't constructive
etc.

I can tell that things were changed because:
a. it says so under the post: "Last edited by ChipMHazard; Today at 04:08 PM." -> not the OP
b. the poster below you mentions things that are not in the OP (Planetside 1, no mention of PS1 in the OP, hence that must have been cut out)

So whatever the OP says after the edit, without an indication what has been edited, will be taken at face value unless there are indications like these.

I can see you censored something about PS1, and I already would like to know what he said about PS1 that warranted censoring, because you removed some kind of context. By removing context a post might lose its meaning, after all you are the only arbiter on what the post says afterwards.
And no, I do not trust you on this.

If you are adopting this kind of aggressive mod policy, at least give us the heads up what was censored and why.

//end thread derail [PM if you want to respond]

From Malorn:
No, this is not the mythical metagame unicorn, though Matt predicted yesterday some would think it is. Come to think of it he also did well in Vegas.

Remember PS1 events like the Rabbit or the home cont defense? Its like that only we can keep adding more types over time and don't need GMs to run them. This is the first event type, and the intent is that for off peak you have meaningful fights on Amerish and Esamir instead of always Indar. And you'll get more XP for doing it. And you have something new to show empire greatness.

Haters gonna hate...TR gonna dominate!
I added the emphasis.

Of course it doesn't serve any endgame!

It's a system that gives initiative to break Indar-only fights, to make more people go on other continents, to break the monotony of "Indarside."

It doesnt serve the end game because THERE IS NO END GAME>

Dumbest thread title ever.

When there are 5 or more continents then maybe they can develop an end game and I really hope they do.

I dont get the OP, has it been edited again?
It says its been edited, "non-constructive" but I couldn't find the constructive bit.
Were they supposed to offer an alternative to make it constructive and if they did was that bit edited?

Anyway, on the alerts I dont mind them they give me the opportunity to play on other continents.
It hasnt changed the game any more than that imo and never really expected it to.

I imagine it was less edited to be constructive, as edited to be less full of bile and rage. So its now a professional looking rant, as opposed to, well, everyone remembers that Angry German Kid meme from way back right?

NOTE: This is just pure conjecture as I have not seen the unedited OP. Do not hold what I said as some sort of unfailable truth.
