Just before it was released, I started a topic about the tactical value of the Harasser. I had my doubts back then, mainly because you had to trade in a driver and I was not sure what a single Harasser could do what two Flashes or two Lightnings couldn't do.
Obviously to say, I stand corrected now, that thing is borderline OP. Max out your turbo and composite armor, put a Halberd on it and you can become a tank hunter with that thing, its just too fast and too tanky for tanks to properly respond. The average life span of a Sunderer has now officially been halved and these vehicles have become impossible to protect. And with a magazine maxed out Fury on it, you rape through entire squads like nobody's business while road-killing like a boss. Recently, a few team mates went to town with that thing and got an Auraxium metal within a day or so and on reddit you frequently hear about people getting 300+ kill strikes with it. So yes, that the Harasser has definitely proved its value: It's probably the no 1 kill farmer now. Last edited by Rolfski; 2013-06-17 at 06:03 AM. |

I like the Harrasser, but really disagree with your conclusion.
It's good at some things and lots of fun to drive around but it's certainly not capable of more destruction than a tank. It's only got half the guns, no where near the armor. There's never really been a situation my Sauron(or Halberd) Harasser can farm that my Sauron Mag couldn't have done. And as a mag driver I've never had much problem dealing with them except in larger groups. Now in a lightning things are a bit more even.

The harasser as a platform is not that powerful or great compared to an MBT... IF a typical MBT had a dedicated driver... or the mag had a similar set-up to PS1 where the driver's gun was more of a secondary gun and a gunner had the turret. |

I love being a harasser driver. Just sit back and play GTA: Auraxis.
I wish they would legitimatize some way that people could mic spam music, so I could put freaking speakers on the thing, and fly around playing decent music the whole while. But here is the thing... Harasser just isn't the go-to vehicle for everything. It is decidedly a support vehicle. You -can- go toe to toe with tanks and infantry... but your better off... well Harassing people. I don't see that roll changing either. I really hope SOE learns from this thing, and just makes the tanks have a dedicated driver now... either by making them 3 seat, or by giving command of the top gun to the driver. Either of those options would work. Last edited by GeoGnome; 2013-06-12 at 04:22 PM. |

Rubbish, who would we ever have said that? The one thing that kinda bugs me as a semi-exploit (intended) is having an engineer switch from gunner seat to the rear outrepairing the damage you deal to it. There's no downtime weakness to exploit as opponent, aside from resupplying ammo. Which, since you can simply drive by a number of times, isn't real downtime either. |

As on the whole dedicated driver discussion, which I could have known a topic like this in a forum like this would turn into: It's irrelevant. If something is borderline OP or downright OP with a dedicated driver no matter what, that really doesn't change the balance discussion imo. Dedicated driver balance discussions should always be around the topic how balanced it is vs two single player vehicles imo. |

You honestly believe the dedicated driver/separate gunner is not a factor in this vehicle being a good choice? You believe that this harasser if you removed the gunner and made it driver-gunned would still be the same level of borderline OP? crazy talk, the whole reason this vehicle is useful at all is the separate driver gunner so how is that NOT the main talking point? This vehicle compares to two lightnings how? or three if you count the rumble seat right? So if it is borderline OP why would 3 people choose this over 3 lightnings? Because the separate driver gunner allows the use of the vehicles mobility. Fully relevant. |
