proposal: gain resource from experience by unit type


this proposed change aims to prevent full time tankers, pilots, and MAX units from being punished by adjustments aimed at preventing "vehicle spam" that they typically don't create. most full timers keep one vehicle or MAX for a long time, rather than just pull one and slam it into enemy lines recklessly before rejoining infantry forces.

instead of gaining resource from experience (RFE) based on the assigned resource type of the territory you're in, gain RFE based on the unit type you use to earn it.

this allows people who can earn experience from their vehicles to keep pulling vehicles, while spam and slam players will run dry until they earn enough resource over time (ROT) or Territory RFE as a basic infantry class.

I like it although I feel it wouldn't cut down in the tank spam all that much, maybe just cull the heard a little hehe. Seems like a step in the right direction though.

You already get ressources from XP depending on the territory you are fighting in. Time will tell if it is enough after this update. It will certainly change how people react to being warpgate locked, and thats a good thing.

Dude, he said that. Did you ready before posting?

I don't know about the the topic idea.

But I did notice on Indar, all bio labs fights are full of maxes, you kill, you get more infantry resouces to get another maxes.
Indar have a bad problem with tanks, only the close to the warp gate bases and the tech plant give you tank resouces, so, unless you are fighting on a tech plant, you can't spam tanks.
The central bases of Indar give you aero resouce, what is kind of pointless, they are a tactical suicide to bomb or harasse with air units, so most people fighting on Indar have an excess of aero resouces, the only great exception is TI alloys, that gives infantry resources and is a place with heavy fights. Lots of people already asked to change The Crown to infantry resources, but since it got nerfed, nobody cares.
On Esamir only the territory neaby the warp gate gives you infantry resouces, what decrease the use of maxes and explosive spams, since the fights on those territory are less frequent. But you get lots and lots of tank resouces on most territories, even on the bio labs! And almost all factions receive the same amount of infantry resources, tanks resources are easy to obtain, the only lack there is the aero resources, that I don't care.
Amerish I don't recall it is the place that I visit the less, it is not my home region like Esamir, or my outfit killing ground that it is Indar, so I don't know the map like my hands, I just know we have all resources there on abundance, the Bly lack is tanks and rarely.

But the suggestion of the topic creator it is nice, you can get more resouces using your vehicle, the only problem are the griefers, but I do think that if you are outside your vehicle, fighting as an infantry you would receive the territory resouces, so it will just be good to the vehicle drivers, if you have bad luck now and with the new system, there will be no difference, if you play right, you are going to be good with it.
My only concern it is to increase the vehicle spam, if I am farming with my tank I will be able to pull tanks to all my outfit, I already pull tanks to all my squad when we are defending tech plants.

It's not a bad idea.
Building upon that, how about a resource gain based on a mixed percentage off:

a) what you use.
b) what you kill.
c) where you kill.

For example 40%-40%-20% - a/b/c respectively.

If you fly or drive alot, you will get a nice chunk from the use of that vehicle from a), but if you use that vehicle to primarily farm infantry, it will have a detrimental effect on your vehicle budget because of b).
At the same time, it will not completely rule out any one resource income because c) will likely give a trickle of mixed incomes over time.

Tricky part would be to lable currently "netural" xp where there isn't a kill or weapon based destruction involved, like repairing turrets, rigging generators, capturing bases etc. I suppose you'd have to lump that into c) completely.

Good idea, I was about to post that maybe it'd make more sense if what you kill determined resources instead of what you kill with - but your compromise is probably even better.

Well its a nice idea but highly flawed.

It would make people like those who play AA never get any resources because the air if it doesn't suck can trololol away after firing its load.

While air like those with lolpods will almost always fill their resources right back up with one strafing run.

It will promote farmers extremely. If people not tend to lose their vehicles they will most likely be ok with the system as is.
