I've never found nanoweave particularly useful. I pretty much always wear flak.
So what if it saves you from a sniper headshot? I hardly ever get sniped. There are mines everywhere. I really only use the MAX version, because flak doesn't protect you from direct rocket hits anyway. It also absorbs a lot more damage compared to the infantry version (going from 80% to 87.5% is a whopping 37% reduction in damage...if the description is exact, that is). I'm experimenting with ASC now. I like it, but not as much as I like to walk through doors with blatant disregard for mines.

I use it on my Engineer with a battle rifle, as I play pure support (no cqb, mines, etc...), repping vehicles and only taking the odd potshot when the opportunity arises. I figured I'd at worst receive glancing shots so it made sense. But the regen time was too slow. Now it is better, but I still prefer Nanoweave on my Medic as shields fall very fast IMO.
Still good for moving from cover to cover, but with a bit of distance seperating you and your would-be aggressor IMO. |
