But i dont like that forced region locking. Everything is connected, and anyone can play anywhere. Thats great. But i dont understand why forcing people with SOE account to migrate to Pro7 account. They can play on all servers anyway. Why not let those who want play with SOE account, youll get enough new players to Pro7 account with your advertising.

Q: Whats the reason for this forced region lock?

(Support dont count. You dont provide support in my language anyway so i would have to use english, and play late at night so i can fit to US support time)
I'm afraid support does count as a reason. By allocating all euro players to PSS1 support, it lightens the load for SOE's US customer support, which will no doubt reduce their operating costs.

The other reason is that euro players will have to use PSS1's "version" of the Cash Shop, which gives PSS1 exclusivity over CS sales to euro players. That would most probably have been an important clause of the deal between SOE and PSS1.

When or how is my Station Account transfered into a Pro7 stuff thingy?

I honestly don't want a Pro7 account, but if I really HAVE to, then I would like to know how to get one and maybe reserve my name.

Answer: Yes. But remember, all your character data is still stored on the SOE side, you’re simply changing the “method of connection” to that data. You will still have the option to access the US servers by logging in with your ProSiebenSat.1 Games account.
I don't like this at all. Id like the option to use SOE exclusively to remain open insted of some German company i've never heard of...

Its all about numbers. There arent that much EU PS players compared to how many new players will play this. We are insignificant from both support and money view, compared to new players.
New players wont go creating SOE account. They would not know thats the possibility when they respond to Pro7 advertisement.
So why piss people off by forcing them to do something they dont want to?

(I know it goes both ways. As we are minority they can easily just enforce that region lock, and if we dont play because of that, nobody will notice those few players)

Re: Questions for Pro7

its pretty simple really, a big part of this deal is ofcause that Pro7 instantly gets a very big customer base. They ofcause hope they can promote and sell all their other games / services / TVs channals / whatever to that base. Letting ppl stay with a SoE account would defeat a very big part of why this deal is attractive to Pro7.

As to the answers, most look good and it really just comes down to wait and see how it all goes. there isent really anything we can do other then that.

There are only two things i dont like, first being the answer to the whole how things will be priced. "local economic conditions may affect pricing", you can pretty much drive a truck through this loophole when it comes sitting prices that are the same as SoEs.

The answer to the whole cheating thing has me the must worried though. Meybe its just the wording but the i way i read it, they are letting SoE take care of it all. Does this mean Pro7 wont have a team activly on cheat patrole like SoE? will EU servers only have active ingame cheat prevention doing the SoE support times, will there be any at all?

That has always been the case, tax, change course ($ -> DM or €) etc, have always influenced pricing a little.

I get it this way: SoE takes care of cheat/hack prevention and the team will scout both EU and US servers for hackers/reports.

Maybe it's just a bit naive...

Re: Questions for Pro7

What will happen if a US player with an SOE account goes to an EU country for an extended period of time and wants to play?

If he can play, then can't EU players get a SOE account by just using a proxy and play on that?

was thinking that myself as service men and women from the US will serve in the EU for a time and EU service personnel may serve in other countries. locking is a bad idea for any game in this day and age.

like to see how they sort this out
