Yeah the NA server thing was all blown up from one comment about that Servers 'were almost certainly going to be all in one place' and many people just assumed that since SOE already has a lot of servers based out of San Diego that all the servers would be there.

iirc months back while the Region Lock thread was still getting action there was a comment from some blue named about the servers were not going to be germany, but they also may not necessarily be in Amsterdam (were many of SOE servers are/used to be). But I remember some blue saying they wont be in Germany.

I'm dead tired atm, or I'd actually try to find the post or article or twit or whatever it was.

California just makes sense for servers for half the world. America from one end to the other is not bad lag usually, and China routes almost all of their traffic through LA, assuming the same from Korea, but haven't seen a tracert from there. I just feel sorry for the EU and African crowd.

Vegas - likely where the PS servers are. Anyone the IP address to the PlanetSide 1 login Servers or even better the Server IP itself?

EDIT: I also find it amusing that people often seem to think MMO Servers is just one server sitting in a rack somewhere when in fact it's likely a network of 10's to 100's of servers and databases.

So much speculation! PS1 is very low requirement and is not necessarily indicative of where we keep most of our hardware. All I will say is most of our existing live games for our N. American community are located in the Las Vegas area.

That does not indicate the IP is actually in SD. It's just ARIN information:

However it does appear the PlanetSide Server itself is in fact in San Diego.
