Yeah, no flaming! Let's just take a screenshot someone took and draw shit on it in paint and claim to have "owned" them instead...

Although Lucas Arts probably won't file a lawsuit, I am sure about it being an ATT. Before I found out about planetside I was a steadfast StarWars Trekkie. (Don't know what you call that?)
If you look closely enough then you'd notice (on the right hand one) the three mini-proton torpedo launchers. (small black circles on the bottom of the tank.) You'll also notice that the tank has a kind of slicked back look. (part of it is not stably conected to the base of the tank) And lastly you can see that the tank has three cannon off of the main turret one main barrel and two smaller barrels one on each side. No its deffinatly the SW ATT. Oh well about the sueing bit, I guess it was just a conspiricy theory. -Midel

Ok, yes they look similar... but no way close enough to constitute grounds for any sort of lawsuit, especially with the relationship Sony and LucasArts have with the development of SWG. Going so far as to point out proton torpedo launchers is a bit far, in my opinion. Perhaps you were looking at the cover in way too much detail on the ride home from the computer store.
All things within the science-fiction genre tend to borrow from each other in some manner, and there's no grounds for a lawsuit unless they totally copy some copyrighted object and place it into another series/movie/game. PS's Galaxy looks similar to the dropship from Halo which looks very similar to the dropships in Starship Troopers, which in turn has alien bugs that look much like StarCraft's Zerg whose characters, like in all Blizzard games, actually say quotes from various movies if you click on them long enough. I just hate how they were too cheap to change the cover art before the game shipped. |
