Chuys in Austin. Best Mexican joint in all of Texas and well worth the 2 hour drive. Second, would be a local place called El Paso.

What?!?!? BTW I'm from San Antonio, and th best Mexican food in Texas is definetly not in Austin. There is a great place here in town, family owned (they're opening up a 2nd one) called Los Barrios. Chuys is Tex-Mex more than anything. I'm Mexican... and its definetly not Mexican food Oh BTW the best Mexican food is homemade...

Ya know, I went into an Authentic Mexican food joint one time.. and they had a sign on the wall that read something like:

I absolutely love Austin so it's not problem for me to take a trip down there meet up with my buddies and have some "tex mex." I have heard good things about San Antonio, but I am not going to drive 5 hours. Chuys owns, and if you think homemade is the best, you should try my moms, I bet you would change your mind.

I might take a trip down to San Antonio, chill on the riverwalk and check out Los Barrios. Do they have a web site? I am the final word on Mexican Food/Tex-Mex (at least as far as clueless white-people go)

Place called "Divines". This place is a local joint based in south cali. its a seafood buffet, sushi, crab, lobster, shrimp (breaded, scampi) etc....

For an all you can eat its 13 bucks. That is a STEAL! i eat there so much, mmmm im gonna go today.

The Classic cup cafe in KC. It's awesome, seriously as good as Ruth's Krys steak house. If you in KC, park by Saks fifth ave and walk down the plaza at about 5:45 when the sun is setting and go to the classic cup. They sell the best marbeled prime steak I have ever had. You can sit out on the sidewalk (which is cordoned off) and eat on their patio. Great food, but kinda pricey. 8.50 for a glass of the best tea on earth. Seriously, it's the nectar of GOD. Go there, you won't regret it. If you like wine, it's the place to be. They have a annual wine contest there, and the guy that owns the restraunt, owns 3 vineyards in Austrailia, and he came in 3rd in the contest. Suffice it to say, they know wines.

Oddly enough, Hooters wings are the best I have ever had. Add in the T&A and you've got an enjoyable family restaurant.
