He decided to fight her off. He threw her off, but she cloaked. He spun, looking for a blur.
There was a glow for half a second, and then something went into his thigh. It burned. He cried out in pain. He heard boots on the stairs. The State Police would be arriving soon. He ran for the window. The door broke down. Special Weapons Agents stormed in with Reinforced armor and Pulsars. The leader had a tactical shield and a Beamer with a dart at the tip. He sprinted for the window. He was inches away when he felt a small prick in his back. He didn't break the window. He felt the pain of impact for a few moments, but it faded away, and then he was on the floor, unconscious.

The gun kata treats the gun as a total weapon, each fluid position representing a maximum kill zone, inflicting maximum damage on the maximum number of opponents while keeping the defender clear of the statistically traditional trajectories of return fire. By the rote mastery of this art, your firing efficiency will rise by no less than 120%. The difference of a 63% increase to lethal proficiency makes the master of the gun katas an adversary not to be taken lightly. |

"Wake up."
He was on a table. He tried to move off. He couldn't. He was tied to it. His head was fixed forward. There was once voice speaking to him. Were there more people but just one speaking? The voice was white with a bit of an Earth English accent. Something was above his head. It was a long cylinder, pointing straight at his leg. He thought he could feel a laser pointer. "Such a shame that you didn't turn yourself in immediately upon seeing our symbol. Now I'm afraid you will be terminated." "Where am I?" '1000 Freemason Street. The same building you were painting. You have been captured by us. We prefer to enlighten our victims on what is going on before we...terminate them. But first, I must ask you a question. Are you loyal to the Vanu cause?" "Yes, yes I am." His heart was beating out of his chest. He thought everyone, or at least the voice, could hear it. "Very well. Your death will benefit them. We will learn and take this, and other experiments, to use against the Terrans. You aren't in a panic state. We have given you some depressants. You will feel calm. Before we begin, I want you to know what that thing is. That is a high-power microwave emitter. It is a prototype for a weapon we may develop. We will be testing its results on you. Now, you will be given five questions. Ask anything you want. Please keep it relevant." "Where exactly am I?" "You are in the restricted area of this building, sub-level 6 to be exact. Wing C, room 13. Wing C is a...testing area." "What organization is this?" "Remember the eye in the pyramid? That is our symbol. We are the Illuminati. A brief history lesson. Before the Terrans, we ruled for a few decades. We controlled the world. We run in secret. We don't fight, we influence. We control a large portion of this government. Once we have defeated the Terran foe and the New Conglomerate anarchists, we shall rule once more." "Will my family be safe?" "Or, whatever excuse for a family? Yes. You will have been killed while resisting capture in this building. That is what the world will know. We won't harm them. Why would we?" "How did you know about my family?" "Big Brother is watching you. ECHELON XII, hidden surveilance, satellite imagery, wire tapping...we know everything. Trust me. Last question?" "What will happen to Marilith?" "She will be paid, of course. A million credits is nothing for us. We control the bank. Again, we have no reason to kill her. She sometimes does jobs for us. She thinks we are a mere gang, a cult. No, we are far more..." "And that's it?" "The machine will activate shortly. Do you know how a microwave works?" "No." "You stupid lemming. Nobody thinks anymore. They all accept what's given, what their celebrity role models do, what the government does. Thinking is out of fashon. You are worthless. You are nothing to this earth. Now die in peace." He heard a humming, and he felt pain for a few seconds. And that was it, indeed.

And now: bibliography.
Yes, I sometimes add outside references to my stuff. Here goes: Illuminati: You're not cleared for that. Fnord. Freemason (street): Illuminati run by Freemasons. Or are they? Fnord. Marilith: Still female assassin. From the comic "Krakow 2.0." (www.marilith.com) AGN: From PSU's AGN. Levantine (hotel): Greek chracter from "The Maltese Falcon" is sometimes called the "Levantine". Incredibly disgusting porn scene from cheap motel: From "Bitter Sugar", a novel based here...er...there in Miami. Cardamine (drug, ruined John's life): From Freelancer. Still a drug. ECHELON (spy system): Real government spying system. New Zealand has admitted to using it (or was it Australia?), claims several other countries including the USA uses it. USA denies everything, as usual. Andrew Jackson (John's alias): General who fought Indians during War of 1812 and after. Later became President of the US.
