You got two choices really.
1. Carry AP and normal rounds and swap between them, depending on you target, softie or MAX. 2. Carry normal rounds and an AV weapon such as a deci. I prefer the 2nd route because I would be contantly running out of normal ammo if I had to use some loadout space for AP. Secondly, the time it takes to switch weapons is actually less then the time it takes to switch ammo (with the MCG). Last point, now the striker is nerfed you are pretty much screwed against MAXs (especially NC). So its best to loose off a few plasma nades from your thumper and run away. Hopefully you'll kill him if he's low health or distract him enough so you can recover. |

For the low battle ranks, don't forget about putting frags in the punisher or just carrying some frag grenades. I've killed Lightnings on foot with frag grenades and they do good damage to infantry and MAX's too, not to mention most people run when things start blowing up around them. The rockets in the punisher are useless, but the grenades are great. Of course, going up against a big ass vehicle usually ends up in getting run over, especially when you are pounding them with grenades.

I've found limited uses for AP. I will usually carry one box of AP rounds for my cycler. 3 or 4 cyclers on a MAX will make short work of them.. providing everyone is packing AP.
I have also used a Suppressor and AP ammo to take out Skeets. Shameful to the pilot, but it has happened. I don't like sporting a ton of AP ammo its just not practical for the anti-vehicle role. Just nab ya a Striker or Deci. Also, AP rounds -SEEM- to take out deployables quicker. I haven't actually experimented to prove it. But it would make sense if they do. Has anyone experimented with this? Do AP rounds take out deployables faster? |
