In defense of what hollywood does to books, its almost required. An author has to write completly different than say a screenwriter because most authors have to use the readers imagination to play out thier story where as screenwriters get actors and all kinds of special effects. so yes a book is usually going to seem better because its your imagination thats creating the scenes not someone elses. most literal translations of book to screen are horrible movies (trust me I've seen quite a few in my american lit classes, if you'd like a few examples feel free to ask)
but anyways back on topic, I am an american consumer. I want to see guns, boobs and explosions. Starship troopers delivered all that plus lots of dead bugs. and I can't wait for starship troopers 2 |

It bothers me that theyr making it a straight to video movie. It might just ruin it with a possibility of bad acting/effects/whatever else.
I loved the first one and the book aswell, the book was different ,yes, but the movie was good aswell. Still gona want to see the new one tho. |

OMA, I don't have problems with them making some changes, it's neccesarry and I recognize that. I do have a problem with them taking a few names and the most basic elements of the setting then making something which has almost jack shit to do with the book.

ok Starship troopers (the book) and for that matter War Hammer 40,000 (which i hear people accuse of ripping off from Starcraft) have been around for 30+ years now... which is stealing from which?
