Ok yea... theres gate camping as well... and I played for 5 months thank you very much... The best time I ever had in the game was a small scale scirmish between C4 and Stain Alliance forces (Megathron battleship meet my Crow Interceptor), but other then that... The ingame player politics were OK, alliances and what not, but all non-empire space was a deathtrap for anyone not in an alliance, which gave most alliances a monopoly on advanced ores, limiting my own ability to build ships...

True, I wont say that the alliances dont control most of the market, but not all of deep space is alliance controlled.

And gate camping isnt what pirates do... =/

But I spose since most 'pirates' are unimaginative that is what they do heh...oh well...

I had every system in Stain space, C4 space, and some other alliances space (the one to the right of the map Curse maybe... its like the largest alliance by both measure of space and number of stations) mapped... I would always get daring so every sector had atleast 3 egress points... was fun, stupid m0o made things annoying tho...

Well, most of their space is empty, if you do it right you could spend quite a bit of time there before someone used the map to find you. And even then you can stay mobile.

To me the map is way too omnicient, sees everything even if it lags.

I hate info given without cost.

One guy in JumpGate decided to post a speed limit in an heavy traffic unregluated sector unless you were engaging Conflux (in game AI) I think his name was Nemz (Faction space is regulated if you shoot someone down that isn't a Honor Guard (PvP tags) you get a bounty for that faction unregulated space is a free for all) if you passed his speed limit you either paid a fine or you were shot down. now that is creative piracy.

EVE econmy is entirely player controlled... and each system has a security rating 1.0 being highest 0.0 being lowest... the systems .5-1.0 are policied by NPCs to an extent... piracy can still happen though... in unsecure space (.4 and lower) the players are the police, Corperations (guilds or clans) can establish laws for their system or join an Alliance (A community of player Corps. ) that owns whole regions of space. It leads to border and mining disputes, and can get quite interesting...

EVE sounds like a point and click verison of JumpGate quite honestly. JumpGate was alot like that back in the day but since the game doesn't really have a replacment playerbase the numbers certainly are dwindling. (say a game has 10% of it's player base loss a month but most games have advertisement so they get a replacement 10% playerbase) JG is an old game but apparently like I stated earlier ND is offering a 15 day free trial for any old E&B trade in. i'm not sure how that works but just what I heard.

I should trade in my E&B then... E&B 'twas a good game, even for an RPG... but lets face it EA just isn't a winner in the MMO world...

Eve is point and click, but it isnt so bad once you get used to the idea you are the guy in the ship and not the ship.

I would have preferred it to be setup more like Freespace, but that would be laggy to all hell...
